Kindle Fire problems charging battery

I power my kindle fire off and plug it in to charge, leave it on all day
battery light still says its not done and I check it and when I open it its like it never went off and stayed on the whole time which might be why I can't get it to take the charge.
Any ideas?

Contact amazon. They replaced my fire because of the faulty charging port. Had a new one in 2 days and a prepaid mailer to ship the old one back.

It seems as if my Kindle Fire takes an extremely long time to charge. It does charge but it can take
6-8 hours to do so. I have tried to find info from Amazon as to what is standard charging time but have had no luck. I don't like to use it because I end up with it plugged in to charge so much.

He suggested that I charge my samsung device with the kindle charger and of course it did charge my phone, leading a diagnosis of a faulty charging port on our Kindle device. Thankfully the device is still under warranty and new device will be mailed to me, including a prepaid mailer to ship the faulty device. Very happy with the customer service. Now my daughter is wondering if all of her downloads can be transferred to her new device, guess that means another call to the support line...

When my charging port went phone charger or kindle charger wouldn't work for me so lucky you can use your phone charger until new device comes in a few days. All your stuff is stored in your amazon account to reload. Anything out side of that you would have to save to the computer and put back on. Mary

Just received my Kindle Fire HD day after UK release,Really disappointed to find that unit will not charge with new and my old Kindle canle.Really annoyed to find on forium that there is an ongoing issue over the USB port.Have e-mailed Amazon for response bur by the looks of things expect to be sending back

Contacted amazon by IM and chatted with 3 people who all told me different things (like is the light on? there is no light!). Eventually a 4th employee rang me and after going through the power off/power on scenario (again) she said it was charging..... I pointed out that whilst we were chatting the % had dropped again and that there was nothing on battery icon to show that the unit was indeed charging. The % dropped from 48 to 32. Employee #4 told me to leave unit on charge for 8 hours and I pointed out that by that time it would be as flat as a pancake and, anyway, I would be asleep. Eventually, after pointing out that I am no techo geek, that surely if the kindle was showing on my pc's "my computer" screen then the usb cable must be ok she said there was OBVIOUSLY a problem with the battery. Replacement arrived today - charged without problems, faulty unit to be collected in the week. Well done amazon on sorting out problem, eventually

I have had two of devices now with the same issue. The charger will not make contact with the pins or whatever is inside to actually charge. First one was promptly replaced as was under warranty. Now my second one, which I got in Sept has already started doing this. I plug it in and the port is loose and unable to charge. Now what to do? Update: I have now received a replacement for my replacement due to problems with both charging and screen freezing and glitching out frequently. So in the corner it really says "Sheila's 3rd kindle". My 2nd was under a 90 day replacement warranty so it was no difficulty from Amazon. I am just wondering if someday it will say "Sheila's 49th kindle" or will they actually fix this issue? Because after 12 days of use my charging port already feels loose. I love my kf, but am considering going to another tablet brand due to this same consistent problem.....:(

Its been a week ago that I called about mine and the other day on the boards someone said they were told it will be a month or two wait for a replacement now so good luck. Mary

better hurry ppl before your warranty expires. otherwise they will just sell you another one at reduced price and cannot fix the old one. my warranty expired 2 weeks ago and im stuck with a paper weight for 200 bucks that only lasted a year. i guess they want me to cancel my prime account and look for another brand. unhappy customer

The Kindle Power Fast I purchased does not have the right connection for my kindle fire (it seems too small) but my charger for my Amazon Kindle seems to work okay although taking longer to charge. Also my Kindle Fire does not respond to my touch very good. What can be done about this?

Bought my KIndle Fire in October, charging issues have been going on through November, will return after Xmas for exchange as it appears to have these problems. Sometimes starts to charge with yellow light and stops within thirty mins without charging and others stays on yellow light all night and only allows small omount of charge, never goes to green to complete charge. Didn`t realise this was such a big problem.

The PowerFast charger should be connected to a standard USB cable on one end while the other end of the usb cable is inserted into the charge port of the KF. The "PowerFast" charger itself has no way to connect to the Kindle Fire.

It appears you have a second generation Kindle Fire (non-HD). Do not try to charge the KF from your PC if that's what you're doing. And definitely do not try to use the KF while it is charging from a PC. Get a wall charger rated at least 5V/1.8 amps if you don't already have one. Leave it to charge for about four hours. If your charger is providing sufficient current, you can use it while it's charging. Otherwise, it's like trying to fill a bathtup with the drain open.

You can use the FastCharger from Amazon or one of many other chargers. The one below works quite well.

In addition, download Battery HD from the Amazon Appstore and "calibrate" your battery using the tool it includes.

My Kindel Fire also has charging problems when fulley charged and off battery battery discharges. why?

I just got my Kindle Fire and charged it I never saw a yellow light so I never knew when it was charged. After turning it on I saw the green light. Shouldn't it have turned from yellow to green to signal it had finished charging or does the Kindle Fire come pre-charged?
