Brianna says:
Does the new paperwhite edition have the ability to switch screen orientations like the kindle keyboard?

A customer says:
Yes, it does. Only in the book though when on the home screen it will switch back to portrait.

The e-ink kindles will change orientation. Don't know about the PW.

Rogue says:
Where did you get this information? There is nothing on the product pages even in the pictures.

Brianna - No one knows yet. Ask next Tuesday when people will have them in hand.

Rogue says:
They are holding it in portrait mode in a case. I just looked again!

Lots of good information on the ad pages. Trick is it has to be read.

Brianna says:
Yep thing is, I read it all which is why I'm coming here to see if anyone knew more information, thanks for the tip though even if it is useless information.

Pineapple has the right answer,we will know on Oct 1st. I will say that the KK has landscape mode on the same menu as font size and the picture of that screen on the PW does not show landsacape mode as a choice.

In reply to an earlier post on Sep 25, 2012 6:39:11 PM PDT
Don't mention it

Nathan says:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37Grq0XbX9o&t=1m5s The fourth menu item down at 1:08 is for "landscape mode," so yes the PW has landscape mode.

In reply to an earlier post on Sep 25, 2012 7:04:32 PM PDT
Actually, Oct. 2 - those of us with "release date delivery" aren't getting them until Tuesday. :-(

Mark says:
Nathan is right about the video. I looked at it on YouTube, set to 720p max definition, full screen on my monitor, and paused at just the right moment. There was a clear menu item "Landscape Mode" on the PaperWhite. That was a good catch, Nathan! The whole video is good to watch.

Dorsie says:
Great call, Nathan! it's really clearly visible at 1:09, when the pop-up menu screen flashes black and the words Landscape Mode are in white for less than half a second.

Say, I know a sports organization that is looking for some sharp-eyed refs...

Yes it has successfully been answered by someone who had a useful answer.

Passive aggressive much?

Brianna says:
Thank you for a clear answer.

Someone must be having a bad day.

The fact is, Amazon has been quiet on this particular question. The Paperwhites haven't shipped yet, the User Manuals aren't available yet, so the definitive answer is still unknown.

The video Nathan linked to certainly does show that option in the menu, but most people haven't seen that video. Giving the "We don't know" answer shouldn't be taken as unhelpful. It was an honest answer. Even with that video, I'm still going with "I'll let you know when I have one in my hands."

Brianna says:
Meya, I did not take other posts as unuseful, if you saw earlier posts you would see that Chief's comment was unuseful. So when I replied I was directy talking about his comment not the others. You're right majority will not know until it releases next week but the point of me asking the question was to get an answer and seek out information that very few could know. So the video was helpful and answered my question.
