Kindle Touch: Kindle Store encountered an unexpected error

My Kindle Touch always displays "Kindle Store encountered an unexpected error" when trying to visit Kindle Store. Wifi connection seems fine: I am able to display websites in the builtin "beta" web browser. The firmware is up to date (5.1.2), I've done several full restarts and even a factory reset, all without success.

Seems to have been a temporary problem with the Kindle Store. Today everything is working fine.

The only other advice I can think of is deregister your device then reregister and sync it.

I am able to see the first page of the store.. however, when I try to advance to the next page all I get is "Kindle Store encountered an unexpected error". My wife has a paperwhite as well and she has no problem with hers in the store... standing right next to me.

What gives? Any ideas?

I figured out my issue. My girlfriend had gone through and messed with the Wi-Fi settings and accidentally blocked my kindle. Once I got the new password I was able to get on just as before. Hope this helps.

I can't get a connection, and I "forgot" my wifi and tried getting a connection with 3G but got the same "Kindle Store encountered an unexpected error" message that I got on wifi. But I was successful in downloading a book from the Cloud. Sounds to me like Amazon has a bad connection to the Kindle Store but doesn't want to admit it, so Bezos blames the customer's wireless connection (even when the customer is unsuccessful connection to the store via 3G).

Just got my paperwhite tonight and had trouble connecting to my wifi network. I tried rebooting the router (time capsule) and the kindle a couple of times but that didn't work. Retyped in my pw into airport utility (using the same one) and unplugged the kindle from my computer and then it accepted my pw. I think unplugging it from the computer was the key.

1. On your Kindle, please turn off WiFi and then turn it ON
2. Now please go to settings page of the Kindle and locate your WiFi network name. Tap and hold on the WiFi network and then select Forget.
3. Now restart your Kindle by holding the power button on the Kindle for 40 seconds, ignoring the shutdown message.
4. While the Kindle is restarting, please Power cycle your Router. To power cycle your router, unplug it for 60 seconds (don't just turn it off), and plug it back in.
5. Allow it to boot up and then try connecting the Kindle again. Once done, try visiting Kindle store.
6. That will fix the issue.

My mother who lives in Missouri and I live in Georgia has a Kindle Paperwhite 3G 6" High Def w/Next Gen Kindle. About 2 months ago it quit working for her - she tries to connect with the 3G so she can search and possibly purchase another book, but instead she gets the error: 'Kindle Store has encountered an unexpected Error'. She says it just spins and never connects. Now she is 83+ years old and simply loves this kindle. She doesn't have a computer, router or internet. Her only experience is this Kindle with newer technology and I feel helpless I can't help her from here. Can anyone give me step by step instructions on how to help her get it working again?

The kindle has been a joy for her as she is partly disabled (uses a walker) and she is really missing the access. Any help you can provide would be really appreciated.

Please people, when you post comments, spare us your life story. And don't suggest complex solutions as if you are an expert, when in fact you just tried everything and it started working for reasons you didn't understand. Re-booting is the first thing to try with any computer when it stops working. Re-booting worked on my own Kindle paper-white.
