Kindle Fire does support Blackboard if you access it through the web browser. There's not an app for it, but I have downloaded material from Blackboard to read on my Kindle fire.

It works for some aspects of blackboard for most of my classes, but not 100% and won't replace having a laptop or desktop.

The main issue I have is when a teacher posts media in a format that isn't compatible with Android in general.

I would not depend on your Kindle Fire as your primary or sole means of accessing Blackboard for your classes. As has been pointed out above, some media is not compatible with the android platform. In addition, extended typing on the on-screen keyboard is a PITA.

I am taking classes online using Blackboard and bought the Kindle Fire so I could access Blackboard without having to use my laptop. I am very disappointed that Kindle Fire doesn't support Blackboard. As a result, my Kindle Fire sits unused and I continue to do my schoolwork with my laptop.

Would you like to sell your fire? I'm looking for a used one.

Honestly? The Fire was designed as a media consumption device. A hand-held, instant corridor between Amazon and your wallet. Books, magazines, music, movies, apps and games. It really was not designed to be a homework tool. It's a toy.

I can access blackboard as far as logging in. It doesn't work past it like trying to download articles for my classes. Please make a blackboard app so I can use my kindle for school work.

In reply to an earlier post on May 10, 2013 11:00:26 PM PDT
@I. Tun: No one here in the forums will make an app. Nor will Amazon. It is up to the Blackboard people to make the app for Android and then submit it to Amazon for inclusion in the app store.

I know that I am jumping in here really late, but it just came across page 1.

I am just curious, since I do not have the KF, but have a friend who does.

Will this app work on the KF?

Justmax says:
No. Google Play will only install it on devices that it is approved for. Kindle Fire is not approved by Blackboard

Elizabeth, this is not the place to advertise your Kindle for sale. Use Craigslist or eBay.

I really wish I would've known that Kindle doesn't support Blackboard along with other apps prior to purchase. Such a let down! but that's my fault for not doing further research.

The more complex the web based service and content,
the more complex the required solution to access, use, and view it.

I can't view ANY of our school stuff on my iPad - since the server uses Microsoft Silverlight to wrap and deliver everything... Just as bad trying to access website content that uses JAVA.

To any of you from a student perspective using BB with a Fire you can do 'some' of what you need? I'm thinking about getting one; I teach online using BB. I'll ask the company about it but I was wondering what your experiences have been.
