There was an article about ebooks and ereaders in the scholastic Parent and Child magazine.
I found the article rather disappointing. Mainly because the only type of ereading gadget they talked about was tablet computers mainly the ipad. There was no mention e-ink ereaders. The article talked about how ereaders could be so distracting with all the sounds and flashy add ons.
All, I could think about was not with e ink kindles. They even showed four ereaders you could get. THey showed the Ipad mini, Nook HD, Kindle Fire, and some Leap pad reader, but no eink kindles.
I guess eink readers really are a niche market.
I love using my kindle keyboard and paperwhite to read to my six-year- old daughter.

So...what point are you making? If it concerns you then go to the magazine and contact them with your opinion. Posting it here accomplishes nothing as this is a "kindle" forum and most people who frequent here are already sold on kindles. Certainly you don't expect anyone else to do it for you....

That is dismaying. I let my son sub-let my 1st gen Fire when I got my 8.9, but it gets put on the charger in my room when the day is done, and he gets tucked in with a Basic Kindle and a lamp on.

The $69 price tag makes me feel better about it perhaps thunking to the floor or getting torqued in his backpack. Hasn't happen in 14 months, but he absolutely cannot take the Fire blipping & flashing to bed or out of the house.

I feel that even for kids, there's a place for both tablets and e-ink readers.

If you do not agree with the article why did you read the whole thing.

There are people who do not like ereaders and tablets to read on. That is their choice. I have friends who prefer to read "books" and do not like ereaders or tablets. I usually tell them that there are many options available for reading and they should take the one that fits them best.
