YouTube only offers videos for streaming.

Perhaps using something like http://www.savetube.com - I hope that one of the formats is supported by Fire (or can be recoded into one that is).

I tried to capture an Amazon commercial as mp4 file, which is supposed to work on Fire (I don't have one); it worked.

When I use the free youtube downloader app (from the Amazon app store) I long press the video and on most videos, I get 5 options. Two of them are usually download as a video and download as an mp3. Both options work on the Fire. Download and then you can access them without being connected to wifi. At least on my fire, anyway.

Tangie, there are several youtube downloaders in the app store. Are you using the one from MicroMacro?

Yes, that's it. The one with 619 reviews. First on the list when you search for youtube downloader.

Thanks, does it have ads on it?

Not that I've noticed. I know I've trained myself to not notice the ads on the free game apps I have, so I can't be sure. :-)

Try it and see. If it does, you can always just delete the app.

Well, I can ignore most ads but one of the other apps has reviewers saying they deleted it because they got tired of all the "porn ads" at the bottom of the screen.

Hmm pretty sure it doesn't have those. Before I started tuning them out, I'd not seen any like that on my game apps with ads, either. Mostly, they're ads for other games, I think.

Thank you for all your replies.
Tangie, I tried to download the Amazon app, but I wasn't able to get it since I'm not in USA... :( Thanks anyway...
I'm going to try the savetube site, and update the results!

Yeah, but I was typing with my "happiness and bluebirds" stylus yesterday. Not sure what flavor today's will be. Need coffee first. ;-/

I'm having a different issue: I can download the YouTube videos with the TubeMate app just fine, but they get saved in my Photos file instead of my Videos file. I'm very new to the Kindle Fire... is this where they're supposed to be? They work fine; I've tested it by putting the Kindle in airplane mode and they play perfectly, but they're mixed in with my Photos which is a little awkward.
