My mom shares my Kindle account. When she buys a Kindle book it gets delivered to my Kindle and not hers. I have to log on to the computer and have it delivered to her Kindle. All of the books that I buy get delivered to her Kindle also. She doesn't want to get all of the books that I order. Are there settings that fix this problem that I don't know about?

I would like my books to come to just me and for all of her books to go directly to her. If we want to share books we can go look for them and have them delivered to our individual Kindles.

Any ideas? I'm glad that I'm not buying books that I don't want Mom to see, but you never know...

When you buy the book there is a pulldown to select which device to deliver it to, it defaults to the first device on your list (alphabetically) if you don't choose one.

Because your kindles are registered to the same account, when you're buying from a computer the Amazon system doesn't know which kindle you want the book sent to. Just below the "buy now" button, there's a dropdown menu which allows you to select which kindle you want the book delivered to. (That list is automatically sorted in alphabetical order.) Your mother would need to click on that and select her device BEFORE clicking the "buy now" button, and then the books she buys will go to her kindle.

If you or she buys from the device itself (by shopping the kindle store on the kindle) the book will get sent to the device it was purchased from.

If you put a '!' in front of her device's name, it will default to being first and she won't haveto chhose from the dropdown. My Paperwhite is titled "!Folina's PW" so it is always the default, alphabetically.

Yes, but then *he* will :-) I guess it'll just depend on which of them is more willing to do that extra click or two.

I assumed we were trying to not inconvenience Mom.

This is how I would expect it to work, but it doesn't. When I buy a book I get it on my Kindle. My mother also gets a copy on hers even though I direct it to go to mine alone. When she orders from her Kindle they go to mine only. I have done it myself, ordering books for her using her Kindle and they get sent to my Kindle alone.

I know about the pull-down. Occasionally I send a book to my older E-ink by mistake if I'm not careful.

The Fire that my Mom has used to be mine. I gave it to her when I got the Fire HD (first gen) and changed its name to hers. I'm sure that somehow the problem lies there but I can't figure it out.

A Fire. Ah, yes. EVERY book purchased by anyone on the account WIIL show on her Carousel. This does not mean it is ON her Fire. If she TAPS the cover, it will download. But she's just seeing the COVERS. And no, you can't change that.

Now that I think of it, my Mom buys all of her books using her own Kindle. I have not given her my log on info for Amazon account on-line. That is more than she needs to know.

Your statements contradict one another. Are you SURE you don't have a couple of different accounts going on?

Gregg says:
Folina, you are correct. I forgot that they are just in her carousel. I showed her how to delete them but she gets nervous. She is 78 and was hesitant to even use the Kindle but now loves it. I just wanted to see if I stop the extraneouds stuff appearing on her Kindle. You'd think that Amazon could fix something like this. They might when some Amazon employee get her kinky erotica delivered to her grandma's carousel. 50 Shades of Embarassed.

Parents with young teens or kids on their account complain about it, too. One suggestion is to open a separate Amazon account and put the naughty books on there, reading them either in the Cloud reader or a little Basic Kindle.

Along these lines. I received a Paperwhite for Christmas. And I have an older Kindle. When I added the Paperwhite all my old Kindle books "ghosted" (title there but not book) to my Paperwhite. I still use both but did not want my old books on the new Paperwhite. Is this a Sync problem. I know how to add new books to the device I want it to go to. I would just like to get rid of the old books on my Paperwhite. Or do I need to set up 2 accounts.

Just Peachy says:
From her kindle are you buying books using the web browser or through the tab that says "books" that is on the main screen?

Again, they're not ON there, rather just showing you that you have them in your Cloud.

>>When she orders from her Kindle they go to mine only. I have done it myself, ordering books for her using her Kindle and they get sent to my Kindle alone.<<

The ONLY way I can think of that that can happen is if you're ordering via the Amazon *website* on her Fire, not via the kindle store. Being a mobile device, once you're logged into the site it'll stay logged in, so she wouldn't necessarily need to know the password etc. And ordering from the website, the delivery would default to the device at the top of the list.

>>When I buy a book I get it on my Kindle. My mother also gets a copy on hers even though I direct it to go to mine alone.<<

No, I'd say that's only a view of the title, as others have said. If she taps on it to verify whether the book's really there or not, then it will become so.
