So I'm turning into a garden geek and wonder why there's so few books on kindle about gardening; I know there's some, but I'm getting the impression they're mostly "narrative", not books that need a lot of pictures (eg, encyclopedia of ferns, or of hostas). I'd think that fire-type ereaders would be perfect because you can easily incorporate heavy photos/graphics, and scribble notes & bookmark etc. Thoughts?

it is up to the author/publisher to convert their book(s) to kindle edition.
fires are tablets and ereaders are completely different from them, most black and white, so pictures from gardening books would not look as well.

Well, I went to the Kindle Store at the top next to the search bar and put in "gardening" - it says there are 6,387 entries that fit that category. I didn't look at them all - but that seems to be a decent number to me.

Thanks Carol - there are gardening books in there for sure, but a lot of the ones that are full of pictures and graphics (reference types, I guess) aren't.

Also, anything with a lot of illustrations is best viewed on a tablet of some kind. I send that type of book to my iPad where I can enlarge the pictures if needed.
