Kindle Reading app for iPad air

I downloaded the kindle reading app on my iPad air, but can't find it on the home screen anywhere. When I go into the app store, it shows that I have downloaded it (shows the "open" icon). When I click open, nothing happens, it doesn't open or anything.

I have the kindle app on my iPhone and they should sync correct? How do I manually remove the app from my iPad without seeing it on the home screen?

Any help appreciated.

If you double click the Home Button, does the app show up? What about using Spotlight Search?

Sarida says:
If the Spotlight Search doesn't show it, or double clicking to see if it is running in the background, then hook it up to iTunes and see if you can find by seeing what apps are on your iPad.

Double clicking the home button it does not show up. I have not tried the spotlight search, but will do so once I get home from work. I forgot how to do it with the new iOS7 update, but figured it out.

Ok I was able to figure it out. I opened up the usage settings and it was showing up there, but it wasn't active. So I uninstalled it and then re-downloaded it from my cloud and it worked. Not sure why it didn't work the first time other than I was downloading a lot of apps in sequence.

Thanks for the helpful comments!

You're looking on the Apple App Store on your iPad, right?

It's right there, in the App Store, look under Books, free programs. Pretty hard to miss.

I can't seem to download amazon AppStore on my ipadair. I tried to follow the directions for allowing apps from unknown sources, but cannot find that option under security or apps. Can anyone help? Thanks.

The Amazon appstore is for the android operating system.
Your iPad is an IOS device and Apple in no uncertain terms would never allow a different app store or any apps that didn't come from their app store.

huh ? do you mean, your Kindle app for iPad doesn't keep "last page read" within the iPad Kindle app, syncing with other Kindle devices/apps, or what ?

ditto what Jones said - the actual software programs are totally different, and written for 2 totally different operating systems. Even if you could download an Android app to your iPad, it would not work at all. You always need to find the apps in your specific device's app store/world - Apple, Android/Amazon/Google, Microsoft -

Unlike my kindle, when I close my air pad, it's never on the page I've left. I've tried to use the "bookmark " but doesn't seem to fix problem.

ok... we'll try one more time -
What exactly do you mean, or are doing - as we are not standing there looking over your shoulder.
Do you stop reading and just "close the cover of your iPad" ?
or what do you mean by "close my iPad" ?

When stopping reading on the iPad -
- touch middle of screen, which brings up various menu options.
- swipe from left, to show major menu (or touch top left menu bars)
- touch Library - which also saves your current location

BTW - just tried closing the physical cover,
that also auto-sleeps the iPad,
and then opening the physical cover....
was still in Kindle app and at the same exact page.

My Kindle App never goes to last page read on my iPad. How do I fix this?

was curious - so just checked on our iPad Mini -
even tested it with WiFi on & off....

WOW - there doesn't seem to be a way to force it to return to the furthest page read... it will however return to the current/last page read. Actually, for me, when I clicked/opened the book from the Library page - it opened to the last page I was reading. The menu only shows a Go To Location selection, and nothing for furthest page, as my Kindle for Android menu lists... Sync to Furthest Page.

Usually that option pops up when a sync detects a furthest page read difference between different Kindle devices/apps.

I recently upgraded from an iPad 2 to an iPad Air.

Before, my Kindle, and the Kindle app on my iPhone and MacBook Pro played well with my iPad 2 and would all sync the last page read with each other.

Now, the Kindle, iPhone and MacBook Pro still sync but my iPad Air is the odd man out. It does not 'see' the other devices and they don't 'see' it. I did the 'remove device' for my old iPad and 'add device' for my new; previously purchased books will download without problems, so it must be recognized by Amazon. Any ideas?

The post that recommended using Library at the top of the page had it right. It works.

I have started reading my Kindle books on iPad air 2. I can easily keep reading the same book--works fine. But I cannot get to any other books. I often read two books at once, but the Kindle app only lets me read my present book. Is there any way to get to my other books that I have downloaded on to the air 2?

Doc Dittie says:
How do you know the other e-books are downloaded to it?

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 17, 2015 8:13:11 AM PST
Byron Souder says:
Because I downloaded them from the "cloud" before I started reading my present book on iPad. However, I found the answer to my question regarding getting back to all of my downloaded books: tap the center of the iPad page and all sorts of options appear, including the option to go to my Library.

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 17, 2015 8:15:04 AM PST
Doc Dittie says:
Yep, lots of apps work that way: tap to bring up controls, options, menus.
