Is there a way I can upload books to the kindle site? I have several kindle books on my actual kindle, but can't figure out how to get them to the cloud/drive space. I would like to do this so that I can access all of my books on my new ipad without having to put them on a USB and transfer them.

All Amazon purchased books are in your cloud/archive. You need do nothing. They are there upon purchase.

Well, they*are* there. What you cannot do is transfer them from device to device. Download the Kindle app and install it on the iPad. Register it to the same account where you purchased the books, and they will be there for downloading to the iPad.

where are you looking?
did you purchase the book(s) from amazon? if so and you haven't deleted them from your account then they are there
check in Manage Your Content and Devices
http://www.amazon.com/gp/digital/fiona/manage/ref=hp_kindle_ss_mk

you can't transfer books from one device to another. when a book is downloaded to any device it is coded to be read on that specific device. if you want it/them on another device then you download it, not transfer.

Then you're doing something wrong. Even if I give away every Kindle I own, and delete every Kindle app, my books are STILL all in my Cloud. All of them. Forever. Amen.

Then either you purchased them using another account, you downloaded them from someone else's account. You can't move those to your cloud. Books are owned by the account which was used to purchase them.

Or, they're pirated copies that had the DRM stripped from them. I'm not even going to address that possibility.

ok.... the usual Q & A

- which model Kindle do you have ?

- depending upon the model, there are two "places" that books display, and you can toggle which one you are looking at.
1 - Device - this is your physical Kindle or Kindle app showing what you have downloaded locally on that device.
2 - Cloud/Archive - this is all the books you have purchased under your Amazon account, and they are avail to download to any of your registered Kindle devices or Kindle apps.

Of course, to make this all work, ALL Kindle devices & Kindle apps MUST be registered to the exact same Amazon email ID and password.
