So I know Prime's always been $79 per year, but I saw a few days ago that you could get it for $7.99 per month.

Yes, I'm aware that $7.99 per month comes out to more than $79 per year, but monthly payments are easier for me.

However, all I'm seeing is $79. I've tried different browsers - Firefox, Chrome, and IE.

Any ideas of Amazon's just doing a trial run of the monthly payment option and not everybody can get it? I'd probably consider signing up if I could get it for $7.99 a month.

assortafairytale, apparently the monthly payment plan is, in fact, a pilot program, not open to everyone as yet. I assume that if it's successful, they'll offer it across the board, but I have no idea when that might be.

I think it was a KFP yesterday in the other thread who said only some customers were getting that option and it didn't seem to have anything to do with browsers. Have you asked customer service? If it means the difference between a customer subscribing or not subscribing, I'd think they'd want everyone to have the same choice.

I haven't contacted CS yet. I saw someone discussing it (maybe yesterday) and checked it out. Yesterday I did actually see the $7.99 option, but today I'm not seeing it. I didn't jump on it yesterday because I'm a Netflix customer and wanted to make sure my favorite shows were available. Since they are, that makes it even more enticing.

I'll see if I can talk to CS in a bit and find out if they can help me. :)

Yes, I've checked with the powers that be, and that is the answer I've received.

Though I plan to subscribe via the annual option after Christmas ($79 annually), I did sign up for the monthly option ($7.99) last night, about 3:00 AM (lol). I had instant access to all the Prime benefits upon signing up.

I don't know if this helps or not, but I used my Kindle Fire to order, via the Silk browser. On the Amazon Main page, I clicked on the "Prime" link that was next to "Hello (name) Account" spot (along the top of the page) Both options (annual or monthly) were available to choose from.

Adding: After reading asortafairytale's post below, yes... I didn't see the billing options until after clicking the "Getting Started" link when clicking the "Prime" link I described above in this post.

Oddly enough, yesterday when someone said they weren't seeing it, I went back to that link to copy the wording and didn't even notice that it then said $79 per year. So I pasted that, which wasn't what I'd wanted to begin with and I went back to that page yet again and $7.99 per month was there. Today, mine says $7.99 per month still.

So it seems to me that even if you're not seeing it now, if you saw it yesterday you must be one of the select few and CS should be able to get you subscribed for that plan rather than $79 per year.

And I know exactly what you mean. I can't scare up $79 all at once at Christmas time. Eight bucks I could do.

Well, here's a surprise. I clicked on the "Get Started" button just to see what would happen, and apparently after clicking on that button, you can choose either $79 per year or $7.99 per month.

Kinda wish they had listed that on the initial Prime page. Oh well. Looks like I'm cancelling Netflix and signing up for Prime. :D
