I have a kindle dx. Recently I flew to Perth,Australia. I read on my kindle all the way there on the plane with no difficulty. When I arrived at my destination and fired up my kindle again it was totally fried. Why? Then my son -in- law arrived in Perth from Singapore and had the same thing happen to his kindle that he had been reading on the plane .What has happened and why?

If it's still under warranty I suggest you call Amazon and they'll replace it. No one here can tell you why it failed though.

Because often, someone has experienced a similar problem, and managed to fix it. I think one of the reasons these forums exist, is so people can ask questions here, and Amazon won't have to hire hundreds more people to answer the phone.

You need to give a more detailed explanation than "it was totally fried."

Define "fried".

If I were the original poster I would try. As it is, I was answering Jazzy-Jeff. I am grateful to the people who answered my newbie questions, and walked me through those directions in the manual which I didn't understand.

arcana may be on the right track. Did you try to recharge them both in Perth? Is there an ac/dc discrepancy between home and Australian power modes?
