i just added an app called talking tom and the sound comes and goes. does anyone know the permanent fix for this? turning it up down doesn't seem like a long term fix.

Same, here. Sound comes and goes randomly. Called Amazon, they are replacing for free. I think they know there is an issue already out there. Didn't seem surprised. Kudos to Amazon though for sticking by their warranty...

I did have sound from the external speaker yesterday then after I had used my headphone to watch a movie, the external speaker did not work anymore, and I could only hear sound when I used the head phone. I susquently contacted Amazon customer service and they advised me to press the on/off button and keep it depressed for approximately 20 secs. then release it. This will allow the device to reboot. Afterwards, press the on/off button again for a couple of seconds and wait for the screen page to appear in full. Then go to volume to address the level. That did it. Just ensure your device is more than 50% charged up before starting this process.

I had to plug the headphones back in, disconnect them and then for some reason it reset the sound and the external sound started working again. I will see how long this will last and if it continues to be an issue I will be contacting Amazon for a replacement since it is obviously that this has been an issue with the product.
