Is anyone else out there who keeps losing their wi fi connection with the Kindle Fire 1st generation or is it just me?

My 2 cents - this worked for me, I have been fighting this problem for a couple of weeks - I rebooted my router (unplugged) for 30 seconds - had been doing it for 5 seconds in the past, so far so good. Sometimes it's the simplest thing:)

I have a 1st generation fire as well, and the last few days it won't stay connected. I contacted Amazon and they suggested rebooting my router. That worked that day, but now I have to reboot it every time I want to use my Kindle. The other devices I have are connecting just fine.

Yes, have had no problem till today. It connects for a while and I then get a error in connecting to internet message. I go to wireless and hit off and on again, then it runs for a while - most of the time. I've tried powering off and on twice, there doesn't seem to be an update 'cause the update button isn't lit up. Plus, sometimes, like now, the wireless icon on top has an "x" on it, but it says it's connected when I check.

Did that, thanks, it worked - hope I don't have to reboot every time I use my Kindle now like beebee!

I had a similar problem with my Kindle Fire HD yesterday. Sometimes it would connect and other times it gave me "Authentication error". I went into the router utility & checked the settings. Some settings appeared to have changed (but not the password). I changed the password, applied the settings & exited the utility, then opened it again and changed it back to the original password (didn't want to reconfigure every WIFI device in the house). This seemed to make some improvement but not back to what it has been so I then forced the Kindle to shut down - not just go to sleep. If you haven't done this, hold the sleep/on/off button until you get a message asking if you want to shut down & say yes. Give it about 30 seconds and then turn it back on. It's been working as it should ever since.

Mine loses connection every time it goes into standby...I should NOT have to keep going in, disconnecting, then connecting.
Rebooting the router doesn't do anything. It happens at other people's houses too.
Would love some tech support on this!

This constantly happens to me too. Have found no other way to correct other flipping Wi-Fi off and then back on again.
