Ferly Poss says:
I am in Australia and while I can purchase books OK to read on my Kindle Fire, I cannot find any apps that I can download due to geographical restrictions, neither free ones nor bought ones. Is there a way of listing what is available to Australia? I really want some pre school apps for my son for an upcoming 24 hour flight to the UK!!!

Bixillarla says:
There are no apps that you can get. Amazon apps can only be sold to US Customers, you need a US credit card and US billing address to purchase them.

From the help page for the app store:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200551840&ref=sv_mas_7

Why can't I use Amazon Appstore for Android in my country?
At this time, we are unable to offer the Amazon Appstore for Android and associated apps to our international customers. We value our international customers and hope to make Amazon Appstore for Android available internationally in the future.

Thank you James - not what I wanted to hear but at least I will stop trying to find them now!!!! I will be staying with a US citizen in the UK next month so I guess I'll have to get busy with her credit card while I am there. Many thanks

Thanks so much Golds on the Roads !!!! I'm off to follow the instructions..........

Ferly - Using her credit cards won't help you. Most of the Fire's apps you get from Amazon require an internet connection every 30 days to verify the licenses. This includes having the U.S. credit card and billing address still on file in your account.

It means exactly what it says. Your Kindle must be registered to one of the Amazon stores (UK, USA, etc) and your IP address and credit card address must show that you are in the country that your Kindle is registered to. Amazon does not have world wide distribution rights.

Check that you have selected UK for your country (on Manage Your Kindle) and check that your credit card that is attached to your account has a UK address as well.

EDIT - You can always contact Kindle support by clicking on help at the top of the page and then the contact us button on the next page. They can check your account info and help you from there.

What is the point of owning a Kindle Fire in the UK if I cannot download any Apps?

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 1, 2012 1:18:48 PM PDT
Jazzy_Jeff says:
The UK site has its own appstore.

However, the 1st gen Kindle Fire is not supported outside of the US. So if Elvis has a 1st gen Fire, it's still not going to be supported in the UK.

My gringo cousin will be visiting me in Chile next month. If he is staying in Chile but is a USA citizen and have a USA credit card, will he be able to buy products with Geographical restrictions while being in Chile?

if you deregister your kindle and register it to his account so he can download stuff to it, the moment you deregister it to reregister it to your account, everything will be wiped clean - perhaps he could put his credit card temporarily on your account (I do not know if this will work)

I don't have a Fire but had the impression that you could sideload some apps from sources other than Amazon, and find content that's available in other countries.

Thankfully I live in a border town and cross into the US regularly for shopping. I just bookmark what I want and download it when I cross the border.

Jazzy_Jeff says:
If that is the case all you need is a US address on your account and get a prepaid Visa card to put on your account. Just make sure it has an expiration date.

hello. i live in trinidad and tobago and i recently got a kindle fire HD as a gift. Everytime I try to get any APP, free or not, I can't due to geographical restrictions. Can someone please assist me n this matter. I use my father's US skybox address and my mother's VISA card that can work internationally. Why wouldn't it work?
