I am interested on owning several kindles, for different family members. I would like to have different books on each of them with only one credit card account. Is there any way to do this?

Yes, of course. It's not uncommon for people to have multiple Kindles/devices on one account. You choose what's downloaded to each Kindle. You can either download directly from the device itself or use the Manage Your Kindle section on the Amazon website to send books to the devices.

Many people get confused about this, because while each Kindle can have its own unique list of books downloaded onto the device, ALL those kindle will share the same archive of books. The archive is the "master list" of all the books purchased on that account. In most cases all the kindles can see all the titles in that master list, even though the books actually present on each kindle might be different.

Dude, totally! That's part of the beauty of Kindling! :0)

I have my KK that stays on my nightstand, and my KK that stays in my bag, and my Fire that gets bounced around everywhere, and both of my kids' BK's on my account. We all share an Archive.

Although...just to throw a wrench at you (*DUCK!*), it's gotten more difficult to find the 9-yr-old boy's books in my growing Archive. I've opened him a separate Amazon account (he won't even be able to tell), and I've started collecting just his kid books in that Archive for him.

(If I want to put a book from MY Archive on his Kindle, now, I have to do the Registration Dance, but that's a story for another day.)

As explained above, anything you purchase belongs to the account. All devices registered to that account will see all items purchased in their archives.

I'm not sure what you mean by different content for each boy? You just download to the device the item(s) you want on that device. If you don't want to share the archives then you have to register the devices to different accounts.

Kindle FreeTime - a free, personalized tablet experience just for kids on the Kindle Fire HD. Set daily screen limits, and give access to appropriate content for each child.
