Is that ok? The info i have says the lightning bolt icon on the battery means the battery is recharging. Now the light is green but that icon is still there. How can i know how full the battery is? (Yes i am new to kindle, learning learning.)

it means you have a power adapter (or USB cable connected to a computer, serves the same purpose) attached, you're not running off the battery.

Works that way with pretty much any device, cellphones and tablets do the same thing.

The green light indicates charging is complete.

I have a similar problem - I charged my Kindle Keyboard by AC power for hours and finally the green light came on; while plugged in the lightning bolt continued to appear; when I unplugged it, the battery icon is definitely not indicating full power, even though the light is now green. WHich is wrong - the green light or the battery icon?

Do a restart via Menu/Settings/Menu Again/Restart. My experience has been that the battery meter sometimes needs recalibrating with the battery. It's not exact in how it represents the battery life.

You will need to connect to Whispernet after you restart to repopulate your books & archive.

If I do a restart, will I lose all my stuff?

@T.L. Bittinger: A restart will not remove anything from the Kindle (a reset to factory settings will do that). Follow Meya's instructions in her post.

If I upgrade from the Kindle Keyboard to the Paperwhite 3G, are the electric plug power adapters / chargers the same, or do I need to purchase a new one for the Paperwhite?

You can use the same cord/plug on both.

That lightning bolt signal on battery appears when I am using the kindle, off the charger. Then Kindle freezes, shuts itself down and restarts. Any ideas why?
