Read for yourself....

Google's $199 "Nexus tablet", that we first reported on back in March, appeared online this week in Rightware's Basemark ES 2.0 Taiji benchmark test. Most of the details revealed in the benchmark match up with what was previous reported. The device will be made by ASUS, feature a 7-inch display with 1280×768 resolution, and use NVIDIA's quad-core Tegra 3 processor.

Latest update...

Phone Arena was just sent alleged press images of the upcoming ASUS-Google Nexus 7 tablet. If the images are real, the Nexus 7 will be a three-toned tablet, with a white front to the tablet and a two-toned black and gray backplate....

....We should be learning more about the Nexus Tablet at Google I/O at the end of this month, with a widespread launch slated for July. The Nexus Tablet is expected to retail in the $150-$250 range to take on the Kindle Fire and a rumored 7″ iPad that could be launching later this year. Stay tuned for updates.

The Fire is good for the simple job it does but this fully featured Nexus made by a trusted company Asus has more power.

Just add the free Kindle Android app and it seems you will have a Fire on steroids. (Pun intended)

Oh! I must add that one must remember that the Fire is not available outside the States and posts such as this may assist others how they can gain the Fire experience (...and more) if they are outside of the USA.

Will exposing vaporware to fire cause it to ignite?

Will this new tablet be able to count pre-hatched chickens?

Yes it should be able to count them as per the Fire does but it also will be able to photograph them and store them on a removable SD card for further verification of the head count.

CONFIRMED...

Our own sources told us back in March that ASUS was selected as the manufacturing partner for the Nexus Tablet, and that the tablet would include the powerful Tegra 3 processor. We also learned from sources that the target pricing for the Nexus Tablet was $149-$199,

Rejoice, Android fans, Google's Nexus Tablet is real, will be made by ASUS, and will be unveiled at the end of June at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

If they are ditching the normal Android interface and mimicking the Kindle Fire - like the article speculates - then they may have something worthwhile. If they have all the content and ecosystem to back it up, of course. If the article is way off base and it is just another Android UI tablet, then I have to say No it will not impact the Fire and will be as boring and tedious to use as any other Android tablet.

Specs are specs and are all but useless if the tablet is not fun, integrated with content and easy to use.
