Back light to bright

I'm finding it hard to read as the back light is to bright, I don't know how to turn it down a little..Help

The Blade says:
Swipe down the top. Select "Brightness". Adjust as needed.

In addition to changing the brightness you can play around with changing the page to sepia instead of white. For some it seems to work better.

In the book - Tap the Text Settings (Aa) button on the reading toolbar, change the color mode.

There are also apps (disclosure: I am the developer of one of them) that allow additional screen dimming.

I switched to white letters on a black background on the Fire; then the only (perceived) "lit" portion is the letters themselves. The whole screen isn't glaring out at you. I have been pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoy that configuration compared to regular display.
