Justsomeguy, I've you tried downloading the .apk file for your app and sideloading it onto your Fire?

Posted on Jun 6, 2013 4:52:29 PM PDT
Justsomeguy says:
No,I have not tried sideloading as when I tried that to get FireFox it failed miserably. Will sideloading work on the 8.9HD? I think it is blocked.

Jazzy_Jeff says:
It is not blocked. You just have to go into the settings and allow other markets apps. 1mobile has the app you are looking for.

OK, will try. Thanks!

Justsomeguy says:
As I expected, "Cannot open file" after I download. Sideloads are blocked on this thing, even after I allow.

maybe you need to contact the developer of the Dish app to complain to them and request they develop it and make it available at the Amazon App store.

Do you think it should be you? Because you sure act like you're the most important person on this planet.

Artist, you are hilarious. So, if we want to drive change at Amazon we should sit on our hands and pray? I am sure that would more useful than highlighting the fact that an app with a million downloads a month from GooglePlay is not available here. Who wants a better product right? As a shareholder, important apps like this need to be available for Kindle to get competitive.

You should send them an e-mail, and not include things like WTF. Grown ups create change through actions -- vulgar spoiled children just get momentary attention.

Justsomeguy, we are just customers and we don't respond well to childish demands. WTF, dude!

The Fire HD model will certainly allow sideloading of apps. Over half my apps come from 1mobile and goodereader.com and some from Google Play, and I"ve been able to install every single one. Some don't work right with the Fire, but that's a separate issue.

Direct your complaint to the app's developer, who has not provided Amazon with a Kindle Fire version...

<sarcasm font> but isn't posting on an un-moderated customer forum going to make a change????

Then you are doing something wrong. I just tried it on my nephews Fire and it installed with no problems.

I don't care if the app ever gets in the store. What reason would Amazon have to not have it in the store? They allow their competition in the Video Instant Streaming world have their app in the store.

Got it. Working!

The .apk will not sideload from the web (1mobile) but it does sideload from the Goodereader appstore, which of course makes no sense. That said, I get to now use the third receiver from my Hopper to watch ANYTHING from my TV on my Kidle, including from the 2 Tb DVR. Thanks to those who actually helped, the rest of you, well ...

As for Amazon not having the app, the have the DirectTV version, Huluplus, Netflix, and just about everyone else for streaming, so...

so..... why would they not have the Dish app? Uh. Dish didn't develop it for them.

Justsomeguy says:
Again, DISH claims that is not true. I guess you can ignore that fact, but....
