I am looking at buying a kindle fire hd plus - but I already own 300 books on my nook. Is it possible to read those books on the new kindle?

not unless you add a nook app onto it and if you google Nook app and kindle fire you'll find instructions on how to do so

Yes, it's possible, if you sideload the .apk file for the Nook reading app to your Fire. As CBRetriever said, if you do a web search for it, you'll probably find easy instructions for how to do it.

Some of the special Nook interactive books, which are really apps, along with some magazines are not able to be read with the Nook App.
Outside of that, the app works ok for the rest of the normal ebooks.
