I have a Kindle Fire and it will not hold my charger. I have had it for 3 years. Is it an internal problem.

It is most likely the charging port. If you have any cell phone repair shops in your town, they can most likely repair it.

which fire is it? if it is the 1st gen fire (NOT HD) then they have a history of the charge port coming loose. you can get it fixed at local cell phone repair shops (there are how to videos explaining how to solder the port back in place if they don't know how to fix them yet). there are some reputable shops advertising on ebay, but check the reviews before going that route. you can also check with customer service, who may give you a discount on a different model of fire (the 1st gens are no longer made or sold new). check with the agent as to whether to offer is on a refurbished model or not. they generally are, but the refurbished models work just as well as new ones and come with the same warranty.

how do I unfreeze my kindle fire.

CatChat says:
with the kindle unplugged and at least 50% power, hold the power button down for 30 full seconds. if the kindle does not reboot on it's own then click the power button again. if that fails you need to contact customer service. click the blue Help at the top of any amazon page

I had that problem with mine too. so now it's a personal choice of yours, deal with it, have it repaired or contact customer service for a possible discount on a new one.
I went with getting a new one, but kept the old one and give it to my niece to use the one day a week she's here for. since I don't have to charge that one as much I just deal with it. if you choose to "just deal with it" and have a long enough cord you could try what I do. to charge mine it has to be angled and pushed in tight, so I get the angle just right, then wrap the cord as tight as I can. that tends to work just about every time. the cost to repair them is generally $20-30.
