My Kindle Touch sometimes skips a few pages ahead when I turn the page.. When I go backwards, there is no telling where it will land. I can't get back to where I was without a lot of trouble. I see that it happens to a lot of people. I got so frustrated that I returned it for a full refund..

Just Peachy says:
Be sure you are tapping or swiping horizontally. If you swipe vertically, you will skip to the next or previous chapter.

I'll be more careful. I have done both. Thanks

A very light, quick tap works best for me.

If you do happen to skip pages, tap the top of the screen and press the back button to return to your previous spot.

I've only had my Kindle Touch a couple of weeks & the 1st book I've downloaded keeps skipping to the end of the book no matter how lightly or where I touch the screen to turn the page. I've tried restarting my device as per the help guide but it is still doing it. Does anyone have a solution?

My Kindle Touch has just started jumping pages. If I try to go to the next page it will either take me a couple of chapters back or to the end of the chapter i'm currently reading. I'm only successful at getting to the correct next page about 30% of the time. Any fix packs or help out there?

Leakie says:
Amazon advised me to delete the book, restart the Kindle (from the settings option) & then download the book again (the book will now be in your archive folder).
This did help but didn't completely solve the problem as it would start jumping pages again. This was the 1st book I had bought so I wasn't sure if it was the device or the book that was causing the problem. Since then I have bought another book which so far I haven't had a problem with so I'm hoping it had something to do with the book. Good luck!

Maybe a stylus would help?

I had the same problem (see first post). I got some very good responses which appear to work. Make sure you are tapping or swiping horizontally.

I have had my Kindle Touch since it came out last year. I never had a problem with it skipping pages until recently. I turned the wifi on so I could download some books and there happened to be an update. Now the book I am reading is constantly skipping pages. I know how to turn pages. I have had it almost a year with no problem till a few weeks ago. It's just weird and annoying.

Likewise my Kindle touch is skipping pages. Is there a more effective way to get back to where you were than going to the closest chapter and then paging through endless pages to return to where it should be?

Bring up the menu and touch the back arrow.

I returned mine for a full refund. They need to know about the problem.

Chance Eary says:
I have a Kindle Touch that will jump all the way from the present page to the very first page in the book. It seems to happen when I try to turn pages by tapping in the bottom right hand corner. When it jumps all the way to the first page, bringing up the menu and hitting the 'back' button does not work - it returns to the main menu. If I have not synced the device recently, there's nothing I can do other than go to the chapter I was reading and page through the text until I return to where I was.

Has anyone had this problem?

CBRetriever says:
you're supposed to tap in the middle to page forward, on the left edge to page back, the middle top for menu and the upper right to bookmark

bottom right - doesn't give me a go to the beginning (I just tried it on three books)

and I've never had a book go to the end either

and I've had mine 4 months

wonder if it's the book or if a restart with wireless on would clear it up

Chance,
I often have that problem of the Kindle Touch jumping back to the beginning of the book. Don't know if it will work for you, but my workaround is: immediately hit the home button, then tap the book title as quick as I can. That usually takes me back where I was reading.

It is frustrating, I know. I've found no pattern in where I touch the screen. It will happen 2-3 times in a long ebook.

I am doing the same. They need to fix this issue! it's way to easy to do it accidentally!

I now have a second Kindle as the first one was replaced due to constant skipping of pages. This one is just as bad. In my mind the kindle is not worth owning and i'm sorry i bought it.

When listening to text-to-speech, turning it off and (later) turning it on to continue, my Kindle Touch *sometimes* skips back to the beginning.
