My sister has been purchasing books from amazon for her ipad. She wanted to lend me a book for my kindle. Is that possible and if so could someone please tell me how that is done? Any help would br appreciated.

Some books are "loanable," most are not. Go to your Manage Your Kindle page, and look under the Actions menu to the right of the book. If it is loanable, you'll have the choice there to "Loan this Title." You will need to enter an email address for the person you are lending the book to, just a regular email address, not their special "Kindle email address."

They will then receive an email, with a link they have to follow to "accept" the loan. They have 7 days to accept it, then 14 days to read it. You will not have access to the book during this time. You can only lend a book once. The loaning option is controlled by the Publishers.

Thank you. I should have mentioned that I have successfully lent books to other kindle owners. But we can't seem to get it to work with the ipad. We can't find a screen with a lending option on her ipad.

If there is a kindle app for the iPad, I would think that your friend would have to have that before being able to access any of the Kindle books you might lend her.

ETA - I read your post backwords. Sorry. Disregard my post above.

You have to go through the web browser (e.g. Safari), not from the Kindle app.

Your title says the opposite of your post and the answers will be different.

1. Can iPad borrow from Kindle? Yes. The iPad can read, and therefore borrow, Kindle books through the Kindle app.

2. Can Kindle borrow from iPad. Depends. If the book is a Kindle book then yes. If the book is an iBook then no.

Good to know that I wasn't crazy. I forgot to relook at the thread title. No wonder I got confused. ;)
