As a Belgian, I can only order a Kindle and ebooks from the store. Yet, a few years ago I purchased a Kindle through the store by having it delivered to a UK address and forwarded to Belgium (as I prefer the book selection in the UK stor).

I'd like to purchase a new Kindle Paperwhite, but as I can only do this through the US store (I don't have the possibility to have it delivered in the UK anymore), is there a way to then "assign" this new device to the UK store rather than the US one?

B. Cambre - You can't buy ebooks from unless you have a UK credit card with a UK billing address. That website is for UK residents only. You'll need to use (which is an international website, not just a U.S. website).

ETA - The Paperwhite is not being sold internationally yet, so you won't be able to buy one in Belgium.

On the first point: I am already purchasing books through the UK store with a Belgian credit card; it does work as I circumvented the rule by having the device delivered in the UK; perhaps not the way Amazon intended it.

The question is rather if it is possible to re-assign a device to a different account.

On the second: thanks, I wasn't aware of that yet.

If you already have your Kindle account on the uk site, then you can unregister the Kindle when you get it (or check the "This will be a gift" box before you click on the buy button.. that will have it shipped unregistered). Then you just use the serial number to register it on your uk account through the manage your kindle page there.

You can register a Kindle to any account you want. I have no idea how you're buying ebooks from the UK website. It doesn't matter where you bought the device, it's how you have your account set up.

I think I understood now, thanks.
