I keep a Kindle category "to be removed online" so I can keep track of books I want to permanently delete. In "Manage Kindle" I've not been able to figure out how to mark more than one book at a time for permanent deletion. Is it right there and I'm not seeing it? Having to delete 1 book at a time takes forever since the screen refreshes after each one. Any direction would be appreciated. Thanks!

No, you have to delete one at a time.

I also wish if you deleted a book from page 20 or whatever, that it took you back to where you were instead of back to page one!

@wild reader---read the OP again. They are specifically referring to permanently deleting items using the "Mange your Kindle" page.
And when you are deleting something permanently using that page, she's right, the system takes you back to page one of the list, which is annoying, and there's no way to batch delete, which would be helpful with old newspaper single issues.

The feature isn't there for what I consider to be a good reason. Since deleting items is pretty rare for most people, Amazon is playing it safe to keep the process down to one at a time. The hassle of dealing with accidental mass deletes would far outweigh the advantages of the few customers that would actually take advantage of that feature.

I like to keep books around in my archives because they may interest one of my family members in the future. Right now, I'm the only kindle owner but I can see a time in the near future when 3 more devices gain access to my account.

Wild Reader, I think Penny means when you permanently delete from the manage your kindle page. It takes you back to page one after the book deletes and you have to start over. Very annoying.

A mass delete capability would be big plus to me. After three months of kindle I have about 100 books (which I would like to keep) and over 1000 personal documents that I would like to delete. I send many short documents to my kindle everyday. After I read them I'd rather not have them clogging up the Amazon servers and my MYK page.

If precaution is desired maybe a delete to trashcan (like email) were they could be recovered or permanently deleted.

that's not what the OP was asking about, but what the heck, the thread is like 9 months old anyway!

I would like the mass delete function on the MYK page. That's where the bottle neck is for me. Deleting docs from my kindle device is not a problem.

Maybe when amazon has to build another server farm to store all my docs they will add that capability.

What you can do to delete the ones on your Kindle that are on your Archived page of the Kindle, keep that page open on the Kindle...then go to the "Manage Your Kindle" page. It will then load your books or articles on there. Look on your Kindle on the Archives Page and get the EXACT title of the book or article, and then go and put the title into the search bar on the Manage Your Kindle page. Then go to Actions and pick "Delete from Device". It will ask if you want to delete it permanently from the device. You say "Yes". After you do that, you will have to go to the Menu Page on your Kindle and click on the Sync page. Then it will sync up with the Manage your Kindle page and then you will have the exact amount on both computer and Kindle. However, you cannot delete more than one item from Amazon's MYK page. It has to be done one by one.

Also, you can talk to Amazon and to see if you can store your articles on the Amazon Cloud. That is for storage. And you can store your articles on there. You can ask them how to use it.

Hi everyone,
Yes, there is a simple page that Amazon offers to delete multiple books from your archives/cloud. It's much easier then the MYK page; it's the page Amazon calls 'Your Collection":

NOTE: thanks to Bruce who showed me this link a few days ago.

Unless I'm missing something, that seems to just have content bought from Amazon, not personal docs?

Thanks Q, I had forgotten that page. I just wish I could use that page to send a book to a device :)

I don't have that many personal docs on my Fire, so I wasn't considering that. Usually, the books I've sideloaded onto my Documents folder of my Fire are not in the MYK area any way. Those I can delete from the Fire and no need to delete elsewhere.

I did have an odd PDF that ended up in my cloud (I'd never emailed it). That one I could just delete from my cloud via my MYK. My real need was multiple-deletes of too-many free books we didn't need that were cluttering my library.

Just looked at that page, and it doesn't allow deleting from archives. It allows moving to trash, which is what makes it not show up at http://amazon.com/myk, but does not prevent it from showing up on the archives on the device. The "delete" is only for deleting tags.

Okay, scratch what I said, everyone! Trying to delete a few books from that "Media Library" site I'd linked to, I had to send them to the trash area first. Then I went to the trash area and selected "Delete from Trash" ... but it wouldn't let me, stating that they wouldn't let me remove *any* digital media from that library in case I needed them later! To delete, I needed to use the MYK page.

... So back to square one: still no way to do multiple deletes in MYK.

Apologies for the wrong advice and kudos to TuxGirl for catching it!

Now to send this request to Feedback.

TuxGirl says:
Once you trash something, you have to remove it from the trash before you can actually delete it at http://amazon.com/myk. Its actually the most common reason for people unable to permanently delete items.
