Kindle Paperwhite Touch/Buttons

I'm just wondering. In my opinion it would be the best option to have Kindle with both touch screen and buttons to turn pages. I had an occasion to play with Kindle Touch a little, and touching screen to turn page is much less convienient than pressing a button like in the non-touch versions.
It would be great to have touch screen for more complex operation like typing, browsing store and turn it off for reading books and turning pages using buttons.
What's your opinion about that?

My opinion is that no matter how hard they try, Amazon can't hope to fill literally everyone's every desire.

My opinion is that the Kindle should take a page out of Nook's book and include both.

My opinion is that what it is isn't going to change so if a Nook better suits your preferences, go buy a Nook.

I agree entirely; I really dislike the touchscreen as the only option to turn the page. I had a Touch when they were released (I always buy the latest version of the kindle) and had to return it for a Kindle Keyboard because I just hated having to move my thumb to the screen every time I wanted to turn the page. I'm disappointed that I won't be buying a Paperwhite for this reason.

Is there a built in keyboard, and does it have any speakers, or have they not released that information yet?

Yes, yes and yes.

I agree with you. It's why I didn't buy a Kindle Touch last year and one of the reasons I'm not buying a Paperwhite this year. I have three Kindle Keyboards, one for reading and two for backup, so I'm good for awhile.

No speakers on the Paperwhite.

Not sure why people get so defensive when someone compares ereaders. It's a matter of discussing available technology, where kindle is always trying to catch up with the nook.

If nook can do both, kindle should be able to do both too. Does amazon want to lose business by always having to play catch up? Do they want to lose customers to other ereaders that offer functions they don't have?

I AGREE 100 %

I think the paperwhite is not the device for you. Buy something that meets your needs.

Every device can't be the same. That is why we have choices on what to buy.

I own a kindle keyboard and have been holding off buying a nook because I've been waiting for kindle to come out with a light. Now I'm really disappointed they offer the light on touch only. That's where I'm coming from.

Maybe Amazon isn't as concerned about selling you one little e-reader as you think they are. Maybe you're mistaken about if or why Amazon should try to emulate B&N's business model. And maybe, just maybe sending feedback to Amazon would be a better idea than complaining on a user forum.

Dittie why are you on this forum? What is your purpose?

I had one in my cart till I realized it didn't have page turning buttons.

To be fare, the OP didn't say he/she was in the market to buy anything so telling him/her to "Buy something that meets your needs." doesn't make any sense. The OP was asking for opinions on a hypothetical device that would have both a touch screen and page turn buttons.
