I go to the pool every day and after an hour of exercise I like to float about in my little spring round seat ... it would be perfect if I could read my books then ... any chance you might be developing a waterproof Kindle ... I know I'd buy it!!!

Barbara, they make waterproof cases. They would be much more cost effective than making a waterproof Kindle.

Has anyone tried the waterproof cases with the Kindle Touch? I wonder how well they work with the touch screen. I know sometimes if I forget to put mine to sleep before I close the cover I have it in it will change pages or jump chapters. I wonder if the waterproof case will do the same thing if it grazes the screen while reading. Also, how well does the touch function work through the waterproof case?

Does anyone have any experience with the Touch and any of the waterproof cases?

ETA: I haven't tried a ziploc with my Touch but I would think a bag touching the screen would cause problems too. No?

Kindle Keyboard: zip lock bags work well. Get a bigger one than you think you need. (If you have the black version of a Kindle, note that they get very hot in the sun, so keep covered with a light-colored towel or bookbag when not in use.)

I haven't checked for a while so I looked again and I found this for the Touch....
TrendyDigital WaterGuard Plus Waterproof Case with Padding for Kindle Touch , Kindle Paperwhite (Blue)

It seems like they added padding at the sides to prevent the cover from touching the screen by accident while reading. That might work. I put it in my cart for now. It sounds promising.

Waterproof implies that you can read with the device underwater, but I think you are asking for water resistant, or water repellent, which would be easy for Amazon to add at a very low cost, and would survive accidental water splashes or spills.

I used to use a Ziploc bag with my Kindle 2, and it worked beautifully!

Then I got a Kindle Touch a few months ago, and tried the Ziploc bag. I had trouble with it. The bag would touch the screen and change pages/chapters or, more often than not, make the font bigger or smaller. I wouldn't recommend the Ziplock with the KT.
