I had downloaded the kindle app for my iPhone and never had a problem. However I read and write reviews so authors send me emails with their book file. Using my iPhone I always chose mobi file to receive and they downloaded and went into my kindle app. However I just got a Kindle Fire and now when people email me a mobi file it says it cannot be downloaded. Has anyone else had this problem because I don't know how to fix it or what to do. I thought having a kindle it would download a mobi file with no problem

Downloaded from where? Your e-mail? Are you having them sent directly to your Fire's e-mail address? If so, are the senders' e-mail address on your Approved Personal Document E-mail List (on your MYK page)?

The Kindle app is built into the Fire.

It's those crochet needle earrings that you're wearing that are giving us that impression.

You don't have to download the Kindle app if you have a Kindle.

I think I understand now. You're checking your e-mail using the Fire, and downloading the book, right? They wouldn't have to be on your approved list for that. That's only necessary if they send it directly to your @kindle.com address.

Are you able to download any other kinds of files onto your Fire from your e-mail?

Edited to add: Are you using the e-mail app on the Fire, or are you going to your e-mail account through the browser?

I've tried using my email from the fire and browser and it won't load. Now I have them send it in pdf but it's more convenient if it goes into my kindle

Jamie, you don't realize that you're not answering my questions in a way that would allow me to help you, probably because the Fire is new to you. You need to contact Kindle Customer Service by clicking on the Help link at the top of this web page, then click on the Contact Us button. Answer the questions as best you can, then choose the phone option for troubleshooting help in real time. Good luck!

Have them send it to your Kindle's email address - http://amazon.com/kindlepersonaldocuments
