How fast is the free 2 day shiping with amazon prime membership?

The Artist says:
You receive the item 2 days after it ships. When it ships depends on the availability of the item, but before you confirm the order, you will get an estimated shipping date. If that's not acceptable to you, you don't have to confirm the order.

Free 2-day shipping takes 10 days. What did you think? "2-day shipping" = 10 days of course. What part of 2=10 didn't you learn in school?

If you live very close to a distribution center thing have even been known to show up in 1 day at no additional cost.

2 days

2 days usually. If you order late on a Friday or on the weekend, it usually will get to you on Tuesday.

Mary McManus says:
If you are in a large metro area and order early in the morning, selecting 2 day delivery, it often comes the next day. This would likely not be true in smaller towns.

Sundays don't count, though. And where you live relative to a distribution center can have an effect.

But mostly, if you think "the second day after the order was placed, unless you order late on Saturday," Amazon will meet or beat that almost every time.

2 day shipping takes 2 days.

Odd, but true.

I live in rural Arkansas in a town of 3,200 people and 55 miles from Little Rock. Shipping here tends to be slow.

I've had Amazon Prime for a number of years and I buy a lot from them since I don't have a car. I doubt if a week goes by when I don't get 2 or 3 things from Amazon. They were 1 day later than 2 days 1 time when an item got lost. I called them and they had a replacement here the next day. The lost item showed up a few days later. :)

Two or three times they've sent me a notice that something got held up somewhere because of extreme weather en-route and that it would be delayed, but they never actually were. They've always been on time when I get that notice. I guess they're just not sure.

I've found that to Amazon 2 days means 2 days. It's as simple as that.

Well I have received a package in 20 hours but usually they arrive at 3:30 two days after the order was placed.

Basic answer, as The Artist has already said, is that Prime shipping delivery is 2 days *after the item ships.* The product page will give you an estimated delivery date on Prime-eligible items (not everything sold on Amazon is eligible for the Prime program). It's usually (barring things like extreme weather) pretty accurate.

I've found that 2-day shipping takes 2 days except when I have to go somewhere and won't be home the next day. Then it always comes that next day and I miss the delivery.

Amazon shipping is very reliable. Out of hundreds of Prime orders I've made, I've never had a single one arrive later than promised. In Boston, where Amzon ships most of my orders, I've had many arrive the next day and a some have even arrived on the same day I ordered them.

Many times I have received an item the day after ordering:) except for preorders, almost everything arrives 2 days after ordering.

I recognize this name--I think we're trying to help a troll.

I haven't decided if he's a troll or a newbie. Not enough info yet (for me). YMMV, of course. ;-)

There was a different thread recently started by him with the same sort of question.

I've seen several threads he started in the last few days...and I still can't tell. I'm getting a strong newbie vibe, but it's quite possible my trolldar is off.

Hmm. I get my stuff the day before yesterday.

There was a woman here over the weekend who claimed she got a Kindle two years before the first one was made. Now THAT's fast shipping.

Boo-Dittie says:
Nah, first she said she ordered it eight years ago and then she said she received it two years before that.
