Wait, what? Kindles aren't phones.

Upgrade a phone to a Kindle?

Kindles aren't phones.

CatChat says:
how do you plan to even do that since they are not even close to the same thing.

GnomeEd says:
That would be like upgrading your toaster to a lawn mower.

Maybe he means he wants the Fire so he doesn't have to use the Kindle app on his phone anymore?

Bill, your Kindle and your phone don't have to use the same cellular provider, if you even want a Fire with cellular connectivity. Do you have wi-fi at home?

[finger on nose] (No, not IN nose!)

*Ding, ding* I think you may have won the round of Forum Charades.

Thanks, Bob! When will the D'Amazon drone dump my Rice-a-Roni, do you think?

Just Peachy says:
There is a Kindle HDX that can connect to Verizon.
You need to order the correct one.

It should have already been on your porch before breakfast.

I would think that upgrading one's lawn mower to a toaster is the ideal.

Because they are temporarily out of stock - that is what the product page states. It says that you can order one now & it won't be billed until they ship it.

Has nothing to do with allowing only AT&T.

And as others have stated, a Kindle is not a phone & certainly not an upgrade from a phone - it is a totally different device.

You can also use your phone as a hotspot, if you have a good enough phone - one that allows it to be used as a hotspot.

What's Rice-a-Roni code for again?

In reply to an earlier post on May 20, 2014 7:43:39 AM PDT
I'm not sure, after this most recent update.

The Fire on Bill's wish list does say "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock." The AT&T one is still available, though.

What is going on with Amazon and Verizon? It has been a couple of months since Verizon has been removed as an option. Is Amazon dumping Verizon versions of their Kindle HDX products? Why?

flipoid says:
We don't work for either Amazon or Verizon, so we don't know.

Though I think I remember reading somewhere (may have been a post in the forum) that Amazon doesn't have the Verizon HDX anymore because Verizon is going to sell them in Verizon stores.
