Same here.... after everything is entered correctly as supplied by talktalk it refuses to go any further and tells me to contact the provider..talktalk! ring them... which you have to steel yourself to do... and you will wind up in India where the person who answers seems not to be listening to you and sounds like he is reading from a prepared set of questions and answers and sounds like an automaton he then gives you the same settings which do not work .....I am losing the will to live

I suspect that there will be no quick fix for this problem. Suicide is definite option when it comes to dealing with talktalk direct. Worst technical help imaginable.....some person in India that has no idea of any technical issues and spends more time trying to sell you something that you dont want! I suspect that this topic will be ongoing for some time without a fix as there is no will by manufacturers/ service providers to get to the bottom of the problem. Incidently what are your thoughts on the new kindle fire hd? Mine seems not to work on many niggling issues. I cant get to my working roster on our secure company website and it also isnt supported by adobe flash. So far I have spent the best part of a day trying to get the thing to do what I expected it to do before I purchased it, without success I may add. Starting to have regrets on not going for something else.

In reply to an earlier post on Oct 29, 2012 4:01:48 AM PDT
Bruce, it is a known fact that Adobe is not supporting Flash on any Android device. Not much Amazon or any Droid manufacturer can do about it.

There have been a number of work arounds suggested in various threads. I suggest doing a search and seeing if one of the work arounds will work for you.

Hi Vickie yep thanks for the info. I understand the issue, and is only 1 of many things that have been adding to my problems accessing my personal information. My wife has a ipad and I never had these problems accessing my emails or my roster, which my brand new kindle fire hd seems to protest over. Kinda makes me think that I should have gone for a ipad? Naturally I will contact the company IT dep over roster access as it is a tad annoying to arrive at work not knowing where I am off to, and what time we are blasting off! Naturally to a complete technophobe like me, I cant understand why the apple works where the kindle stumbles. Guess what you pay for may sum it up?

In reply to an earlier post on Oct 29, 2012 4:27:25 AM PDT
It's not what you pay for, Bruce. Your wife's iPad is NOT running the Android operating system so you are comparing apple to oranges. Adobe decided to not support the Android operating system for a number of reasons. You made the choice to go with the Android operating system when you decided to purchase the Fire.

This is something that should have been taken into account by the purchaser before purchasing but I know that most people don't have the knowledge to consider things like this before purchasing.

As to your roster access - this is probably done via a VPN network which can sometimes take some IT knowledge to set up. The Fire HD will work on a VPN so your IT department should be able to help there.

Hi Vickie. Adobe is the least of my problems, and to be frank detracts from the subject of this talktalk thread. Also not having done research doesnt wash. I am your least demanding customer who really doesnt give a hoot about all the commercial stuff thats rammed down our throats these days. All I want to do is run my personal life when I am out of the country. Is it too much to expect to be able to get onto my emails and view my work roster? The talktalk issue has been ongoing for some time if you view the threads, yet no fix has come forth any quarter....I am not overly clued up on all the technical side of the problems, and quite frankly dont really care. Put simply I just want to do a couple of basic things that I shouldnt have to spend days on forums such as this trying to figure out a fix and being made to look thick in the process.

Bruce, since most people are not having a problem with their email (for whatever reason), I would suspect that talktalk has some unusual setting. Since the default settings seem to work for other email providers, and since people have posted the talktalk tech support is not the greatest, it's not something Amazon can do anything about. If many people were having problems with all providers, then I would say the problem lies with the Fire but this is not the case here.

Having called talktalk a couple days ago on another issue (and was told to call back 2 hours later by some bod in Asia as they were too busy!) I have spent the last 20 minutes trying to send an email to them via the kindle fire as I am away from the uk. For some reason, despite signing into my account, when I tap on the contact tabs nowt happens. Wondered if anyone else on this forum has managed to get in contact with talktalk to find out what server IMAP settings we should be using? This has to be the most frustrating time wasting exercise ever. Now all I have to do is deal with the other issues that dont work on the fire!

Thanks Scut, you have made me a very happy bunnie. Now works. Entered a field incorrectly. Also techno babble has masked the problem to a large degree as well as assumption often plays its ugly part in these matters. You are the first person that has actually correctly addressed my and your problem. Thanks again.

Can I apply this to an ordinary Kindle? And how? I'd love to be able to access my talktalk emails on my Kindle again.

Hi guys

Can I join in? I can get the outgoing mail to work using port 25 ok, however I can't get incoming mail, tried and using port 110 both without success.

Any further ideas before I lose the will to live

This may seem a bit random, but the settings Scut gave us were already on my Fire and would not work...little did I know that they were in pale grey and therefore not 'active' and all it required was for me to type them back in again - hey presto!! So, if like me, you're thinking these settings don't work, try typing them in again. SCUT - you're a genius! Yay!

Hi Colin. I cannot see your settings but
1) Have you setup your talktalk email via the AOL option on the Kindle (this must be used)
2) Outgoing settings are Server '' using port '587'

Hi Scut
Thanks for your response!
It`s my mum`s kindle and email I am trying to set up. I have been trying it through other provider option and she can receive emails but can`t send them - tried settings above.
Made her an aol account which works fine but she`s determined she wants talk talk!
Just tried to set it up here on my kindle through aol setting as you suggested but it`s not letting me access manual setting option??

Scut says:
You just have to enter the TalkTalk email address in the AOL Account option, because TalkTalk and AOL are pretty much the same thing. So delete the 'other provider option'.
