It would be interesting to know. I realize the small sampling here isn't enough for a scientific conclusion, but replies could give a feel.

By the way, this question arose from seeing all those mentions of arthritis in another discussion.

Me? No arthritis, but 68 years old.

Anyone else willing to give their age?

Bill

Just to let you know that I am 71 going on 14 (the joy with the Kindle). Don't have arthritis yet but in the mean time I am enjoying my Kindle. Looking forward to rereading some of the older classics which is mentioned in one of the other forums.

I'm 70 years old and have mild arthritis in my fingers and have a lock problem on my right index finger. That is fixable but I already have had my thumbs "unlocked", and I'm putting it off until I can't manually straighten it anymore. It is an annoying procedure. The Kindle is great for me and I like those large buttons (the Kindle stays in the cover at all times of course.)

I'm 45 and working on my BA in Communications. I don't have arthritis, but I'm as athletic as a Butterball Turkey. :)

I'm amazed that your ages are so close to mine. Felt sure I was corresponding with people in their 30's or 40's. I'm 66 and have arthritis in my hands. So looking forward to receiving the Kindle, which I'm hoping will arrive tomorrow.

I'll be 51 later this month, at least that's what they tell me. Sure don't feel it though! A little arthritis, not enough to bother the reading, but the eyes are going!!! Love those adjustable fonts!

62 -- with a rapidly waning exercise program thanks to the Kindle! (I'd much rather read than walk!)

My guess is that the age entries will come in on the other side of 50 for a couple of reasons: we tend to have more time to read than the younger folks who are busy establishing careers; we are a generation that was raised with reading as part of a lifestyle (even in-home newspapers during the 40's, 50's, and 60's were far more common than they are now), and we're more likely to be willing to spend $400 for an techy gizmo that doesn't multi-task (i.e., phone, text, take & send pics, etc.) Some of this is conjecture, but the propensity for a post-50 age group to be readers is from my research and course work as a reading specialist.

I've been wondering about this too.

I'm 52, my husband is 64 and our son (the most avid kindler of all) is 12.

Based on our experience my mother who is 83 is ordering one too.

I'm still waiting for my Kindle to arrive (hopefully Tuesday), and can't wait to have all my books in one place!
I am 40 and have always been an avid reader and lately an audiobook listener - now I'll be a Kindler!
While I may be the youngest to post so far - I do find my hand cramping after holding a paperback book open for so long! I'm looking forward to NOT having that problem!

Glad to know some younguns still read BeccaMonster! BTW my husband has one also, he is 54.

I'm 26. Yes I'm the one that has been talking about my arthritis in my hands and shoulders. I love my kindle, she's my new best friend. I'm currently reading all those classics I gave up on a couple years ago because they hurt too much and loving every word of them.

I'm 62 and my husband is 69. Neither one of us have arthritis or major health issues. My husband is very active and spends hours working in the yard. I always hoped reading was exercise. I guess the Kindle has squashed that. Now I can't even claim turning pages as exercise!

I did see an earlier post that there were two young gentlemen who were 80 and 82.

Way to go! Great idea to start this discussion.

I am 48 but I been "crotchety" all my life. Probably hilarious to observe.
<arthritis> only in a finger that I broke. After a sumer class of Chi Kung (pronounced "Gung") exercises it went away and has never come back. That was over fifteen years ago. Chi Kung is just like T'ai Chi but simpler more se-metrical movements. Like the Kindle one cannot know what it is like until you experience it first hand. Like all good things it takes time.

<arthritis> my girl friend has whipped hers by staying away from eating nightshade related plants: most all peppers, potatoes, tomatoes (difficult because she is italian and a chef) there are others but I forget what they are. I eat the heck out of all these to no negative effects. We have been together for over a decade so I can attest to the advantage for her of eliminating these from her diet. She had it in her wrists and in her knee and some in her hip as I recall.

" After a sumer class of Chi Kung (pronounced "Gung")"

I knew that. But how do you pronounce "Kung"?

So far, 18 respondents averaging 54 years of age.

Howdy! I'm 41 but while I am arthritic in my hips and shoulders, at the moment my hands are fine. I suspect that will change before long though... :( I go to physical therapy for it three days a week (it's a freebie from my workplace, yahoo!). Strength training is the way to go for the hip and shoulder crowd. :)
