Why has my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 started displaying "No SIM" and an x beside the WiFi symbol at the top right of the screen? Have had my Kindle for months and this has never appeared before. I paid extra for increased memory when I bought it.

Try rebooting your router by unplugging it, waiting a few minutes, then plugging it back in. Try to connect to wireless. If it doesn't work, contact Kindle CS via http://www.amazon.com/kindlesupport, then click on the yellow Contact Us button on the right side of the page.

I have had the no SIM signal for months. I have no problem connecting to WiFi except I can no longer connect to the Amazon A T and T service that I purchased last year. It was only $50 dollars for a year and I use it occasionally when I get out of range for other services. But not now since getting the no SIM signal.

**Meya** says:
Ward, that $50 plan was only for 12 months. Now that the time period is over, you'll need to purchase a data plan from AT&T if you want to continue to use 3/4G for a connection.

The message, I assume, has to do with that fact, there is not longer a data plan linked to the device. You'll need a WiFi signal for your connection.
