Who exactly are you talking to here? As long as you didn't write it - there's nothing to say you can't start a discussion about whichever book or genre you want. I'd suggest not starting it this defensively if you want nicer input though - usually people will respond to how you start.

So I looked up biographies and memoirs, and every book on the main page was discounted.

The Hyperbole and a Half should be good.
I've read her blog and it's hilarious.

Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight and Fifty Acres and a Poodle: A Story of Love, Livestock, and Finding Myself on a Farm are excellent memoirs.

Oh wait--you want cheap books.

Perhaps you could look for them in your library?

What If the Hokey Pokey Really Is What It's All About?

This one was funny.

Then she would actually have to do some work.

I was just coming back to edit my post because I realized you were looking for cheap books and I was talking about discussions (total misread on my part), but I've decided not to. I was not being nasty, I was answering the question as I misread it honestly.

I really, for the first time ever in 20+ years on message boards, can't think of anything to reply to the OP that wouldn't get deleted. Bravo, OP, bravo!

I at first read it as saying that people who liked romance, sci-fi and horror weren't as good as those who liked biographies and memoirs, but then upon a second reading realised it wasn't

the post wasn't as clearly expressed as it could have been

I took it to be she was blasting Amazon for daring to discount fiction for the masses while never discounting non-fiction for the elites, like her.

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 25, 2014 3:22:52 PM PST
(not to mention that Amazon does discount non-fiction)

I didn't see the original post, but it looks like someone was looking for discounted memoirs?

Biographies and Memoirs is usually one of the categories in the Kindle Monthly Deal, where the books are $3.99 each. That's true this month:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=s9_dnav_bw_ir11_s?node=133140011,!2334093011,!2334155011,3441883011,154606011,154754011,!2334155011,!2334093011&search-alias=digital-text&bbn=3441883011&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-4&pf_rd_r=1JXYQBY5RPXG23CSV33W&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1630568642&pf_rd_i=3441883011

Here is the Biographies & Memoirs section, sorted by low price to high. As I write, there are over 100,000 titles in that category. The search results only return 6,400 at a time...and with that sort, I was still in the ninety-nine centers.

It looks to me like there are about 40,000 Biographies & Memoirs in the USA Kindle store that are priced under $4.

Hope that helps...

I like how she came on here declaring Amazon bigoted without even looking for the kind of books she likes.

I enjoyed that one.
Especially the mushroom.
