I didn't drop it! But my kindle is unreadable for the top inch and a half this last time when I turned it on. I've tried the basics like holding the power switch down for 30 seconds - the reboot didn't fix.

What should I do?

Screens fails sometimes, especially if any pressure is put on the screen.

I suggest you contact Kindle customer service to troubleshoot with them, and if that doesn't work, ask them what options are available to you. Use the blue Help link at the top of this page, then the Contact Us button on the right side of that page. Choose the phone option for troubleshooting help in real time.
