I cannot get Facebook to work on my Kindle Fire. On the rare occassion I can get it to load, there are no pictures or graphics of any kind, only text. I have tried the mobile version as well and get the same result. Any ideas?

I am having the same problem trying to set up my mom's kindle fire for christmas... I've updated the kindle software and done a hard reset like they've suggested in other threads... but still no luck. Can't get pictures to load and the response time for the browser is just awful.... wish they would fix it

Check your setting (bring up the browser or use the Facebook app) depress the menu tab , and select settings look for the 5th Item on the list "Load Images" and ensure there is a yellow check in that box. that should allow you to load /view pics and such

I tried that... it is marked to "show images".... still no luck. It's getting very frustrating... facebook just does not want to work. only text will load. Might just have to call customer service and find out why it won't work. ugh...

I never go by Facebook when checking the stability of a wifi connection on a device. They are constantly dinking around with stuff on that site, and it has problems more often than not. My particular FB page hasn't updated all day, just for an example.

Try Google and some other major sites, like Best Buy, Amazon, etc. to really get an idea of whether or not the problem is actually with the Fire.

Are you accessing FB via the "Web" app? That's what works for me. There's another thread that suggests using this URL in your browser address field:
http://www.facebook.com/?sk=nf
I have that bookmarked and only use the web for FB. It works fine and it lets me avoid the annoying 'mobile' FB interface.

I contactd Kindle Support and worked with two techs on this issue. Neither could help and tried to insist it was my WiFi. However as soon as I mentioned that I had read the dicsussion boards with similar issues being reported they told me they would have to refer my issue to the Engineering Dept and someone would get back to me. We'll see if they follow through. Otherwise, mine is going back!

B. Sharp says:
Sory but that doesn't work. Even the Kindle techs can't figure it out.

Good luck. Was on chat with them forever yesterday and they could not diagnose the problem.

B. Sharp says:
Good luck. Tech support had no answers for me even though there seems to be numerous people with the same issue.

All apps are extremely slow to load if they load at all. However I have no problems with any other devices that connect through my wi-fi.

That doesn't work either.

I was able to use fb earlier this week but not within the last few days. Did db block kindle users? Any help with this would be great.
Other web pages are loading. Just not db.

kah says:
(I assume you intended "fb" when you typed "db".) Nope - I don't see any blocking at the FB end. In fact, I am FB now, via the Web app. As I posted earlier, I have "http://www.facebook.com/?sk=nf"; bookmarked and use that URL to go to FB.

Same issue here. I'm done. Returned it today. Will save up for an IPad 2.
Very disappointed.

yeah kah, it says we're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can. More than it did before, but still not working.

kah says:
As part of debugging a USB issue (in another thread) I did a 'factory reset' of the Fire and when that was done I too was seeing the "getting this fixed" message from FB in the browser.

This seems to be coming from the "mobile" interface to FB which was being invoked, in spite of the URL given to the Web app., because the Fire was doing a redirect to the 'mobile' version of FB. Go into the Settings for "Web": in the Web view tap the "ladder" at the bottom of the screen, then "Settings" (lower right); then go down to a setting for "Desktop or mobile view". I changed that to "Desktop: Optimize for desktop view".

Doing that got rid of the redirect to FB mobile and it got me back to having FB work as before.

To view images on facebook. Go to fb wall. Click settings Icon on your kindle, make sure there is a check mark for loading images on the web. That's it. Worked for me. I was starting to get frustrated too. Hope ghat helps everyone.

I am referring to the settings Icon at the bottom of your kindle (by the bookmarks Icon)

I use the Face Book app from the android market or the dolphin browser and have had no problems.

Your sending a Kindle back because of a screwy app or incorrect browser settings is like sending a car back because a tire got a flat!

Alan Jackson says:
Here is the answer. This applies to difficulties logging on to Google accounts as well. The problem is the browser "Silk". If you tell it to bypass the server farm on Amazon's end and head directly to the websites, everything works.
From Facebook, hit the little box with the 3 horizontal lines in it at the bottom of the screen. Tap settings. The scroll down and turn *off* "Accelerate page loading". Your pages will now load faster and completely.

Our new Fire worked immediately on Facebook after doing this change in the set up. Thank You!
