Why are some Kindle books showing no price, but when you go to the page it is there. Then when you go to other book sites it's posted as Kindle but it only shows price for Hardback and Paperback. I found this true this morning when I looked at my recommended list on Amazon.

I left out an important fact. This is concerning the Amazon site.

an example please? There are millions of books so hard to know what book you are referring to.

"... some Kindle books showing no price, but when you go to the page..."

Showing where, exactly, and what page?

A specific title would be helpful.

Could it be titles not available in the US? Like English translation of 100 Years of Solitude? Now and then, CBRetriever and CBP the Bookworm will post titles in Discount / Price Dropped that are not available in the US. Sometimes I find the US version in the editions box, sometimes it's just unavailable.

The Recommended for You feature is not particularly reliable. I've received recommendations for books I've already bought from Amazon.

CBRetriever says:
US vs other countries - lots of linked books from other sites don't show up as kindle books on amazon.com for me and some are available to me and not to US residents

Not available for US residents: Le Capital au XXIe siècle (Les Livres du nouveau monde) (French Edition)
Not Available for me (Country Setting = France): Sprig Muslin (Regency Romances)

and they're both on amazon.com

and I know what the OP means because I see this in my recommendeds:

The Son
The Son
by Jo Nesbo (April 1, 2014)
Average Customer Review: 4.4 out of 5 stars (61)
Currently unavailable

but when I click on it, I see the usual "This title is not currently available for purchase", but then in the box there's a kindle version for $15.93: The Son

I've learned to click on the recommendeds that don't show a price because sometimes they are available

CBRetriever says:
that's my guess - also the link to a book on Amazon from another site is usually to the US version, but I've also run across some from blogs that are pointed to versions licensed to those in other countries (this is especially prevalent in a lot of the blogs I read that are written by expats in France)

I'm sorry. I'm an idiot and I do this a lot--in speech as well as writing--thinking people are psychic and should know what I'm thinking. Never mind my question. I think you have all answered my question and I thank you for your time and effort. (But I'll give you an example--"Buried Angels by Camilla Lackberg")

Hmmm. I looked at the product page (I am in the US) and the book shows only hardcover and paperback editions available but the reviews are verified purchases of kindle versions.

A few guesses == kindle version had issues so removed from sale until fixed or possibly not available for me in the US.

ETA: We all do the same thing from time to time.

Her book releases are way out of.sync in the U.S. - Hidden Child, #5 in the series, is just now being released. Buried Angels is #7, so still going to.be a while. The paper books for sale are either used or.from.overseas vendors. Happens a lot with international authors, the English language versions get released in the UK first--don't know why hers are so far behind, though.
(BTW, the website stopyourekillingme.com is pretty good to.compare release dates.)

thanks for that reminder. I remembered she was a foreign (Norwegian?) author but forgot the delay in receiving her titles here.

It's one of my pet peeves - even though I have a bazillion books on the TBR, I want those new releases now! :D

And then there are the books that seem to come and go. For a long time, Sharon Kay Penman's books hopped on and off the list of those available for Kindle in the US. Hers seem to have settled down, though and are all available at the moment.
