I uploaded mp4 movies onto the "Video" folder in my Amazon cloud. However, I do not seem to be able to see them or stream them from the 'Cloud' section of my Kindle Fire Video ta b. Does anyone know why?

You can't stream you own personal content to the Fire, nor can you even download your Cloud stored content to the Fire. You have to sideload personal content to your Fire, via micro USB connection to your computer. There have been several threads about this annoyance already. :)

Yes. sideload MP4 movies through the micro-usb, copy it to your video folder on the Kindle Fire then download an app called ES File Explorer and click on the video folder then you can select the file you want to play.

thanks for the help guys. I'm definitely not going to buy additional cloud storage now that I know I cannot access my own files from the kindle fire.

Bryan, I don't agree. I uploaded an album to the cloud from my computer. Once I had my Fire I opened up the music app, selected the "cloud", selected the album and downloaded it to my Fire. I had the option of streaming it to the Fire but chose to download it instead. I also have streamed the music that I loaded on the cloud from my computer to my android phone for listening.
Video's I loaded on the Fire from the computer but only because of their size and the time it would have taken to upload and then download them.

Wesley, you need to read the manual. You open the Gallery App to watch your video's.

Ahh thx, sailorman. do you know if its possible for the Gallery App to play videos in widescreen though? looks really small with the black borders in portrait

Sailorman - You can download your music from the Cloud to your Fire, but you can't download videos. Personal documents can only be downloaded if they were previously emailed to your Kindle and stored in the Archives.

The cloud works for music. Just not the other stuff. You will need to side load your other personal items on the Kindle Fire.

You can download some content from the cloud to your kindle, but it goes to your downloads folder rather than one of the folders that you have tab access to from the top of the screen (for .docx, and .pptx at least, .mp3 actually goes to music I think). Incidentally, if you download an e-mail attachment from the provided email app, it goes to downloads as well rather than asking you where to put the attachment. Oddly, I have to tap the file names to get them to download. Tapping the check box and then the download button doesn't work, at least not through the web interface.

The included office viewer can see the file structure of the fire if you select browse when opening a document, and the fire seems to be smart enough to open them with the right program even though you got to the file from the office app. I found it nicer to use a file manager app instead though. The other odd annoyance is that if you move a file from downloads to documents, it won't show up when you touch the Docs button on the home screen, so I always have to use the file manager.

Thanks for mentioning the Gallery App, Sailorman; I had been wondering about that.

Edit: apparently, .pdf's don't work at all though cloud; I got those by attaching them to an e-mail and sending it to myself. Sending files to the Fire's email address seems to do weird things to them.

You are correct Sailorman and no i don't need to read the manuals because I am the manual. ES File Explorer is a great app to videos. While Gallery has the option to view videos you upload via Micro-USB, it's just faster to do it within ES file Explorer. With that being said The Gallery app does a great job with pictures which i recommend, however i would not use ES File Explorer for pictures as it is very slow when you have more than 100 pictures.

Use dropbox, free 2gb upgradable (albiet more expencive per gb than amazon) and you can STREAM! and easier way to upload data on the computer.

The advertisement for cloud (which I purchased 20GB) says "Upload your music, photos, videos, and documents from your computer to your Amazon Cloud Drive." Notice it says Upload "YOUR" photos, videos etc to cloud....I feel this is bad wordplay on behalf of Amazon and will be complaining and asking for a refund.
