I have 2 kindle 3G's for my wife & I. If I purchase a Kindle Fire HD, will my current books transfer to the new device??

Each Amazon-purchased e-book is coded for a specific device and can't actually be transferred to another. When you register the Fire to the same account as the other Kindles, all the e-books will be available in its archive and from the Manage Your Kindle page on the Amazon web site.

If you register it to the same account, the books purchased on the account will all show up under the Cloud tab. You just turn on the wi-fi and tap a title. It will download to the Fire.

I upgraded from the Kindle 3G to the Kindle Fire and it transferred without any problem after I registered it.

What M. Francis said. In addition, if you purchase the Kindle Fire HD, you can go under "Search" and type in a title from your previous Kindle, and when the name comes up, you can download it directly that way, also. Saved me alot of time. I still have titles I've forgotten about.

R. D. Clark says:
It's probably worth noting that if you actually use the 3G connectivity much now, that the Fire HD (except the $499 version) is wifi only.
