So I got my new kindle Fire HD and set it all up. Went through and removed a ton of books from the carousel that I had already read. The next time I turned it on, they were back. I've removed them from the carousel 5 different times now and I can't get them to stay off!

Just entered virtually the same issue.

I take the books off as in "Remove from Carousell" and they repopulate.

Not sure if this is a "feature" where the Carousell wants to keep a certain number of entries or if it's a problem...

I've noticed something odd with the carousel, too. With the 1st generation Fire, when you register it, the carousel populated with absolutely every book you have. As I have over 400, it was quite a list. And it took me a LONG time to clear it down to only the things I was currently reading. But my new Fire HD only has about 10 things in the carousel. That's it. How does it decide what's in the list and what isn't?

My understanding (I won't get mine until Tuesday) is the new carousel will show a small number of your most recent items; books, apps, whatever. I'd guess until you actually use things, it would be in order of purchase?

I hope they fix the carousal fixtures. Every time I switch on my new kindle fire HD, every singe book and doc in the cloud appears in the carousal, and I've tried removing it several time.

Yes I'm having the same problems I hope Amazon has a fix for this.

Isn't there a switch between device and cloud? Are you saying everything from the cloud is showing up as on device?

Is that on your 1st generation Fire, or do you have one of the Fire HDs?

This is my first Kindle Fire and I'm experiencing the same issue. I find it to be a nuisance. I remove them from the carousel only to re-appear after turning it back on. I hope they fix this. If I wanted to see what's in my library, I'd go there directly.

I have a new Fire HD and cannot duplicate this problem.

I suggest rebooting the devices...hold the power button in until the device shuts off. Ignore the Shut Down prompt. Once it shuts off, press the button once to restart it.

Meya- I just tried your suggestion (and crossed my fingers!). Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. All docs, books and magazines I've downloaded showed up in the carousel again. Interestingly enough, this doesn't seem to happen with my movies.

What firmware version is your Fire HD running?

Pull down menu, More, Device, About.

7.1.5 is the current firmware.

I'm sorry we can't find a solution for your issue. I suggest contacting Kindle CS, but wait until tomorrow during west coast business hours.

The Help link at the top of the page will take you to another page, where you can select Contact Us. There is a Call Me option, where CS will call you back. It works great. I do not recommend email support.

I'll ask the other Pros if they have anything else to try.

What image/s do you get on the lock screen if you opt out of the ad's. Can you use your own images on the lock screen if you have opted out the ad's?

Christopher, it's always a good idea to start a new discussion when your question is totally unrelated to the topic of the thread rather than hijack someone else's thread. To answer your question, no you can't.

Meya, I am seeing the same behavior, especially with apps that I haven't even used. I've removed them from the Carousel, but upon reboot, some (not all) grow back. So far I'm at a loss.

Here's the behavior I'm seeing.

() Remove items from the Carousel.
() Reboot the device using the standard "Hold the power button for 30 seconds until it shuts down on its own.." method.
() Upon reboot the Carousel is as I left it.
() However, if I touch the Books or Apps choices at the top of the Carousel screen, when I return to the Carousel screen it has repopulated in a selected (and apparently random) fashion.

I think I've just confirmed that it's a problem on the server side at Amazon. If I turn off wifi before shutting down and then reboot, the Carousel does not repopulate. Nor does it appear to repopulate if I turn wifi on AFTER I reboot.

I'm guessing that it has something to do with the "customer recommendation" strip and Amazon maintaining a list of the items you have on the carousel at a particular time. If you break the connection by turning off wifi it may force the list of carousel items to be refreshed when you turn wifi back on again after a reboot.

This may also explain why the behavior is so seemingly erratic with some people not seeing it and others seeing it constantly. Obviously, it's a bug that needs to be fixed but until it is, folks may find that killing and re-establishing their wifi connection may help.

Anybody want to save me some time and give me the email address for feedback on the KFHD? I hate to be one of those people who ask other people to do their homework for them but I don't want to take the time to report this problem on the KFHD, itself.

I'm having the same issue. It's been going on for the last couple days. Around 15 books(the same ones) keep showing up on my carousel whenever I turn on the Fire HD. I've tried doing a hard reboot by holding down the power button and sometimes the device does turn on without the books being there, but eventually they show up again. I hope Amazon offers a fix for this soon.
