Hi. I started having this issue several updates ago and still can't figure out how to fix it. The help desk at Amazon hasn't been able to give me any answers either.

I wante to PERMANENTLY remove content from my kindle. I've logged on to Amazon and deleted the content as instructed by the help desk. The content is gone on My Page. Problem is, it dosen't remove it from my kindle. I've deregistered the kindle, I've deleted the app numerous times. NOTHING WORKS! Help!

Dragi Raos says:
Which app have you deleted and why? Are we talking about a Kindle reader app, or a Kindle device? Which one ( http://amazon.com/help/kindle/which )?

One usually has to delete a book both from the device and http://amazon.com/manageyourkindle page, and then sync the device (with wireless active, of course) in order to refresh the archives page.

It's the kindle app for iphone. I've deleted books from my amazon account and want them off my phone. I've tried deregistering and even deleted and reinstalled the app, nothing works. The books are removed from My Page on my Amazon account, but my kindle app doesn't update.

There used to be a place to delete the books from the device, but when they updated the app a few updates back, that option isn't there anymore. Amazon told me deleting them from My Page on the Amazon website would work but it doesn't.

What happens when you tap and hold the title? On other touch platforms that brings up a menu, where deleting the book is one of options.

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 5, 2012 1:23:05 PM PDT
S. Berrien - It sounds like the books were downloaded to your iPhone. When you long touch, does a menu come up with the option to delete or move to archives. Both of those remove the actual files from your iPhone app, which should remove the title as well. As long as the book exists on your iPhone, the app will keep on showing it.

S. Berrien says:
It either automaticallly starts to download or gives you the option to download or cancel. There isn't a delete button anywhere and there isn't a refresh/sync button. Thats why I tried deregistering and deleting the app.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

S. Berrien says:
The long touch only gives you the option to download it to the device.

Dragi Raos says:
You are long-touching in Cloud tab - that book is not on your device. Click on Device tab first - those books are actually on your device.

Are you saying that a book in Cloud stubbornly stay there even after you deleted it from http://amazon.com/myk and synced the reader?

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 5, 2012 1:41:35 PM PDT
S. Berrien says:
Yes. That's exactly what I'm saying. I've deleted from http://amazon.com/myk, deregistered the kindle app, deleted and reinstalled the kindle app (there is no sync/fresh button, that went away with an update, the same updated that started this issue). Nothing works.

On the device tab, you can delete by holding down on the title, but that doesn't remove it from the cloud and holding down on the title in the cloud only gives you the option to delete.

Never mind - I misread your problem. Sorry.

Dragi Raos says:
OK, next question - if you long-tap (in Cloud tab) on the book you already deleted on MYK page and accept the offer to download it, what happens?

S. Berrien says:
Yes

It gives me an option to download to my device.

Dragi Raos says:
Err, yes? Does "yes" means it downloads!? From where!?

You are absolutely, positively sure you deleted it from http://amazon.com/myk, and that you have only one account?

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 5, 2012 2:05:50 PM PDT
Dragi Raos says:
Yes but what happens if you actually try to download it?

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 5, 2012 2:18:46 PM PDT
S. Berrien says:
I am absolutely certain it is deleted on http://amazon.com, I've checked it numerous times including just this afternoon.

When I download a deleted book it moves it to the device tab. When I delete it from the device tab it removes it from the device buys its still on the cloud.

The only way to remove bloatware (Facebook, audible, etc.) is to root your kindle but Amazon frowns upon that.

Al, we are not discussing Kindle device. And, believe it or not, people do listen to audiobooks.

Dragi Raos says:
Hm, this is extremely weird. If it downloads, it has to download from *somewhere*, and that somewhere can be only archive accessible from http://amazon.com/myk page.

Try this (I suppose you have another Kindle-capable device - Win PC, Mac, iPad...): download a kindle app there and register it. Verify on http://amazon.com/myk under manage your devices that both apps are indeed registered to the same account. Look into the new app's archive/cloud - is the phantom book there?

I have to go now (it's almost midnight over here and I still have some work to do), but I am very curious to see how this resolves - I have marked the thread for e-mail alerts.

Good luck!

My Kindle for iPhone app is listing some daily blog docs in the cloud. I had deleted these docs from the cloud some time ago. However, when I long press, it tells me that the document has been deleted and to sync my Kindle.

I still have been unable to find a way to remove these docs from my cloud list on my iPhone app.

Very strange.

Did you ever resolve your issue? I have a similar problem with a new kindle paperwhite. There is no option to delete a book on the cloud when a long pres is performed. Anyone have a solution?

B. Pruitt says:
I take it that this issue has not been resolved. I even went as far as to transfer all my stuff to a second amazon account to try to remove these phantom books from my kindle app on iPhone. That didn't work either. They are not showing up on the new http://amazon.com/myk, but are still there in the cloud.

When you delete a book from your Kindle, it only leaves the Kindle. It is still in the Archive (Cloud), until you come HERE to Amazon, go to MYK, and delete for good and certain permanently from there.

B. Pruitt says:
As previous posts have indicated, we have done all that. It is not showing up on Amazon, only on the device. De-registered, re-registered, deleted app, re-installed app, changed Amazon accounts even. Still showing up on device.

Whooops. I thought we were referring to Kindles. Sorry.
