is there a reset button to unfreeze kindle (keyboard version)

If your Kindle Keyboard is responsive, do


If your Kindle Keyboard isn't responsive:

1. Disconnect it from any power sources (wall or USB)

2. Hold the power switch to your right as you face the screen for a full twenty seconds (longer is okay), then release

3. Let it restart on its could take a minute or so

If that doesn't work, plug it into the wall for an hour, disconnect, and try again.

button on your right. I'd call them or have them call you.

I'm hoping you are just looking ahead, and aren't having a problem now...

You are amazing! My Kindle Keyboard had the weirdest crash today and your suggestion is the only one that worked. Thank you for saving me from a heart attack. :)

When I download free books,it works but I now see a charge on my credit card for some books I thought were free, I've been checking on my e mail after I download and they all appear to be free. Is there a charge to Canadian customers not shown on the book at time of purchase?

When you see a list of books on or any other website linking to, they could be listed at $0.00, but when you click on the book to go to it's product page, it may list a completely different price. That happens to me on occasion (also Canadian).

Go to your listing of your purchases on and see which contain charges. Presumably it would say in your email, but since you're saying your emails show them "appearing" to be free, check online instead for those that were purchased around the date the credit card says (which can be up to a week off sometimes).

Please help! The top half of my Kindle is completely frozen! The bottom half works fine but the top half wouldn't work even after restarting it with the power button

My Daughter got a Kindle (key bored) and i have done the hold the button for 20 sec. and i have tried everything i have even let it die... but still the screen is stuck. is it really dead? or can if be fixed. we havent had it long and i dont know where the box is for it :( but if anyone can help me on this it would mean to worl to me and my daughter. thank you Ranae

Well first of all charge it... letting it go dead is about the worst thing you can do for a kindle.

I have to say an enormous thank you to Amazon! My kindle keyboard had been frozen for months on the empty battery screen. Amazon customer services were amazing! Unfortunately, I have to say goodbye to the kk, due to its malfunction, but amazon are sending me out a (different model) replacement!
WELL DONE AMAZON! 10/10! Best customer service resolution ever. I will forever be an amazon customer!
