i returned the 2013 kindle fire and brought the 2012 hd...the 2012 can last in sleep mode for a week with wifi on...the 2013 maybe about a day and a half....

I never had a problem with wi-fi on, maybe it drains faster but I hardly ever use it if it's not connected so I don't notice if it does. Two days ago it started draining insanely fast for no reason, for instance I left it with a 94% charge on sleep mode (which I always do) overnight and when I woke up it was 40% charged. I don't know what happened, I'm not doing anything differently.

Did you download something new? Sounds like either an App running in the back ground or a book stuck in indexing.

Yes, I think that's it. I opened the weather channel app for the first time in a while, I've read a few reviews and apparently it keeps running after you close it and sucks away the battery, even with the location services off. Just force-stopped it, hope it works. Thanks a lot

I don't have that problem with my HDX 2013 - could it have been a new app or did you download alot of books that are indexing. Not sure if indexing is an issue with Fires - it is with ereaders
