Kind of. There is an electronics trade in program on Amazon, run by a third party. You can trade in your Kindle for a gift card, which you can then use to purchase a new Kindle.

Depending on the Kindle, you will likely get more selling yourself directly on eBay or Amazon, but the process works fine. I traded my first generation Kindle Fire using this link:

Ok so I was wondering do you pay allitle extra for a new kindle?

You pay what ever the new Kindle cost. You can possibly sell your old one back to Amazon and use the funds to help pay your bill for the new one.

That depends. The Basic is now only $69.

If I want to sell my kindle touch I only had for a year and wanted a kindle fire hd...could I trade and pay with the gift card

Yes. You'd have to subsidize the gift card amount, though. That won't be nearly enough. As has already been mentioned here, you'd get much more selling your Touch yourself than trading it for a gift card.

Please consider donating any e-ink kindles you no longer need to this organization: .

It's a wonderful way to let our troops serving in harm's way that we're thinking of them and appreciate their service. I also support them with cash contributions to buy ebooks to go along with the Kindles they send.

I really like the idea of donating them to our troops. Mine contains hundreds of books. Do those books stay in the kindle?

No, you need to delete them (the easiest way is to reset it to factory settings), as it is against the terms of service to transfer them with the Kindle.
