I have a Kindle Fire HD that I have been reading a book in. When I go to my Kindle Touch, which I started reading the book with, it is on chapter 10. I read to chapter 14 on the Fire and the Touch has not synchronized to the farthest point read, chapter 14. I have tried manually synchronizing both Kindles and still the Touch hasn't synced. On my Amazon Kindle page I chose that book and to read it on my PC and it opened to the farthest page read. So it seems to be the Touch that is not updating. Anyone have any suggestions on getting the touch to update?

Oh yes, wifi is turned on with both Kindles.

Thanks

The important thing to remember is that your devices do not communicate with each other directly, they communicate via Amazon's servers. So, when you finish reading on one device, you have to connect to wireless and sync to send the last page read info to the servers. When you want to pick up where you left off, you have to connect the second device to wireless and sync so that it can get that info from Amazon's servers.

And you've checked wi-fi on both devices? And you have syncing turned on at Manage Your Devices?

I have one book that won't sync, but another is syncing. Still looking into that.

Just to add to what The Artist said. When you are done reading on device A, you must close the book / go to the HOME screen first. That forces the device to update the furthest page read. Once that is done, connect to wireless and do the synch on device A. Then, when you go to device B, connect the wireless and synch.
