When watching Prime shows, specifically SOA, my new HDX cannot hold a wifi signal. It fails over & over & over. I have tested my network. It isn't my network. Tonight it "disconnected" at least 20 times in a few hours. I tested speeds right next to the HDX & that were 15 - 30 Mbps. I finally grabbed my iPhone to see if I would have the same issue. I loaded the exact same episode, went to the exact place I was most recently locked up..& the rest of the episode played out flawlessly on the iPhone.

I am not an Apple fanboy. I love this HDX for video but this is not acceptable. The HDX can't hold a signal.

Dragi Raos says:
T., some users with this issue (I am not one of them, my KFD7 holds its connection flawlessly, as do my other Kindles) report that configuring their routers so that they serve the same IP address to Kindle at every DHCP lease renewal solved the problem. Perhaps it is worth a try.

My router doesn't assign dynamic IPs. The HDX is #9. I did change the wifi setting on the HDX (long press on the nertwork name - Advanced Settings) & made the IP static. Seems to be doing better. We'll see.

Week old HDX is having problems connecting to a wifi network. the network is operating but the HDX drops the connection and won't reconnect. Has happened 3 or 4 times in last day or so.

Same problem. It cant find my home wifi at times and it takes too long to connect. It happens randomly.

Having same exact issue, so is it my device or just something inherently wrong with the hdx? I just got it yesterday and sometimes Internet works fine and other it won't connect at all, my internet is working perfectly. At suggestion of mayday I am trying a factory reset, I will also try the static trick.

Did this resolve your issue or do you continue to have issues?

Having the same problem here. seems like whenever it goes into low power mode the wifi doesn't come back up when you bring the device back. Get a wifi icon with an x in the status bar, but if I go to wifi settings it shows as connected. Giving it a moment or two to wake up completely doesn't fix the issue

Just got HDX and it kept dropping WiFi connection or would not connect to any service that required internet connection.
Went into WiFi settings and manually set it up and gave it a static IP. It was using a different DNS to the one I use for my router

Got a kindle fire hdx and won't even connet to wifi at all. Won't even find my network. iPhone, iPad and Samsung phone connect fine. This is very annoying. Ideas?

Lesson learned. I never get a new gizmo until it's bee out at least six months. Every time I do, something like this happens. Happened with my old hd. Had to deregister/reregister it all the time.

Did you get it figured out. Home computers work fine. Today, connected to wi fi for about 30 seconds. All indications I have signal and HDX does not connect. Trying to stay sane and rational with this POS. (wife's IPAD works fine).

J. Donahue says:
Have you tried calling Kindle Customer Service to see if they can help you with your "POS"?

"God helps those who help themselves"....... Typical non civilized response in today's society......... However, you are right. I will be sending the POS back. Faster than a phone call during the holiday season. (excuse me - malfunctioning device). Larry (not Deborah)

I have the same problem connecting to the the wifi. I purchased two kindle fire Hdx and neither one will connect. One of them worked for about four hours. I called support and set them back to factory setting and they still do not work. They told me to call my wifi network which is Comcast to see if there is a limit to the number of devices allowed. Comcast told me I could have eight devices to my internet. My laptop works flawlessly. So I had four devices total. My laptop, printer and the two Kindles that will not work. I just printed my return labels and they are going back tomorrow especially after reading these post.

I received a Kindle Fire HDX on Dec. 24, was able to connect using my mobile hotspot for 3 days. Today - can't connect to that hot spot, but can connect to wifi at my work location. Can someone answer the question on why I can't connect to a Verizon mobile hot spot today? I already talked to Verizon and there is no problem on their end.

Andi says:
I have exactly the same problem with my two day old kindle hdx. When using wifi it just drops connection yet our iPad and laptop have no problems! Extremely disappointed. I contacted the May day function when I got a moment of connection but they didn't know what to do apart from telling me to reset the tablet which didn't work. They also said they have not come across this problem before.

There is a huge problem with that. I hope it gets fixed. I want the new 7" hdx but want this resolved first.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 28, 2013 5:49:36 PM PST
It may be your Kindle...or your Wi-Fi. It could also be sunspots, or something else, interfering with your Wi-Fi. My HDX had no such problem, the few times I used it for videos.

We aren't the only ones having the WiFi drops. There are lots if people in the forum with the same complaint. I've read some posts in which they can't connect at all or drops after every couple of seconds or minutes. I have the problems will be fixed. I'm sending my 2nd one back today & hope the 3rd one works flawlessly

There are other forums with the same wifi issues. I suggest calling support and making them aware of all these threads.

Ihave to agree with the above, I just exchanged it for a new one thinking I had a defective unit...same thing.. the wireless doesn't work...its on - off off off.. on..off off. off off off....on on ....off off.. get it?

Guess I'll add my name to this thread. I am having the same issue and have yet to come across a resolution. I'm using the 7", what a dissapointment. If I don't hear anything from Amazon acknowledging the issue I will be returning the kindle in ~7 days. Not worth having a tablet when WiFi doesn't work!
