Hello,

I have been using my Kindle fire HD to cast Netflix to my Chrome cast for the last couple of months. Now all of the sudden it will not work, I have tried deleting the netflix app and re-installing it, I have tried rebooting the Chrome cast and the Kindle. I can still cast from my laptop and Iphone. and I have tried searching for an update for my Kindle's software (none available). Does anyone have any more ideas? or is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Since Amazon doesn't offer the Chromecast App and doesn't support Chromecast, you're probably going to need to talk with Netflix or Google about this problem.

But Netflix did work with Chrome cast on the Kindle. I even went as far as side loading the Chromecast app and a Netflix app from a different app store. Still my chromecast button is missing.

The only success I've had this far is, start streaming using another device. Then the "cast" icon will appear on the kindle. You can then control the playback using the kindle.

you and I are having similar problems, some people are able to get theirs to work, but I haven't been able to. I am trying to figure out what is different on our kindle vs the other people

I think you are on to an interim solution. I had same issue; You Tube chromecast without a problem but not Netflix. Opening Netflix on my laptop and then opening Netflix on my Kindle Fire hdx 7 did the trick. The chromecast icon appeared on the Kindle and remained. Now appears anytime I open Netflix.

I believe this problem will vary according to a few things and is in fact a case by case situation. It is one of the most frustrating experiences I have had with any device. My issue is that I could get the icon on YouTube but not Netflix. So after reading Netflix support page guidelines I did two things that helped to bring back the icon. The first thing was update to the most recent Netflix app. Now it didn't show up but it was recommended and since I didn't have the most recent app I updated it. The second was to install firmware for my router. The firmware in question was supposed to fix multicast issues. The icon showed after I did the firmware upgrade.

After all that guess what? On YouTube I had the option to choose which device I wanted to stream to but not on Netflix. It will only allow me to stream to my TiVo but not my second TV where I have Chromecast set up. There is a catch. I used Mobile 1 Netflix app and got Chromecast from there too. The side loads work fairly well with minor pop up annoyances but it's a small price to pay due to Amazon's restrictions. The only work around I got was to use my smartphone. The Netflix app on my phone gives me both options just like the YouTube app. I think a real Android device will work better than whatever version or type of Android Kindle uses.

Anyway if you have a TrendNET router (I have TEW-811DRU) perhaps you need a firmware update despite the limitations. Not too sure if the link will work but here is where I got the firmware: http://www.trendnet.com/support/supportdetail.asp?prod=100_TEW-811DRU

Good luck to everyone.

I had this identical experience. Netflix/chromecast/kidle fire hd7 worked FINE from 3/14. until 11/14 then says "you have no devices" when I try an upgrade (as the message on my chromecast TV screen suggests I need.) This happened right after Amazon automatic upgrade that I never asked for!

Same for me. I think I saw Amazon advertising their own TV plug-in
Like chromecast couple of weeks ago. Then the problems started with
Streaming Netflix off the kindle 7. Coincidentally or a battle
Of streaming giants ?

My thoughts exactly. It seems that Netflix goes with all the other mobile devices except the kindles. But I've never been able to send YouTube from kindle 7 to Chromecast from day one although Netflix worked perfectly. Hmm...

We'll have to be content with using our other devices until Amazon decides to fix this. I think Amazon wants to sell us its new "stick" device but I am not inclined to buy it.

My son purchased Chromecast for me on Christmas 2013 and I started using it immediately with my Kindle. Casting Netflix worked flawless until October of this year (2014) and has not worked since. I don't know what happened, it just stopped working. When I try to cast I get an "error" on the TV that says " please update eh Netflix application your mobile device to continue casting Netflix on this TV". The funny thing is that the Netflix stopped working after updating Netflix to the new release back in October. It's work when Netflix base color was "red". Anyway - I gave up trying to fixed the issue. Cast works great on my wife's iPAD and my laptop "no problems" at all.

Hope Amazon update Kindle to work better with Netflix and other streaming apps.

Concerned Kindle User.

I think amazon is just trying to sell their fire stick by screwing over their fire users. Its funny that it stopped working when fire stick came out.

Amazon blamed Google when I called them. I was told that Google is afraid of competition from Amazon. This seems unlikely.

I have been using a laptop to cast chromecast Netflix since November. All of the sudden, I get the "update Netflix app" error! Spent 2.5 hours on chat with Netflix. They eventually said have a nice day and signed off. Grrrrrr....

As I write this I am casting from Netflix/LAPTOP combination so I don't have your problem. What do you suppose can have caused that to happen in your system? I certainly can't do it with my Kindle! Any others in this discussion experiencing this?

Yesterday I went through posts and found an issue with AVG. I disabled my AVG on the laptop and was able to cast to my tv. I'm not sure if my problem is fixed or it was a fluke. My tablet doesn't have AVG so I don't understand why it was getting the same error.
