Can I play videos off of my kindle fire hd to my TV with just the USB to HDMI cable? If not, how can I do it? Is it possible to use my fire to even browse the silk internet? Thank you guys

You will need a Fire HD with an HDMI port. The ones with just the USB port can't be connected to a TV.

Is this what your talking about? Micro HDMI (Type D) to HDMI (Type A) Cable For Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7.0 Tablet - 6 Feet (Package include a HandHelditems Sketch Stylus Pen) (NOT COMPATIBLE WITH Kindle Fire HDX 7)

Yes, exactly.

Some video may not output due to digital rights management, such as from Hulu Plus.

Sadly, Hulu Plus does not. There were some posts about it and I was skeptical, but researched it and found it was true.

There's actually a digital rights system built into HDMI. Like I said, I didn't know anything about it until some folks mentioned it and I looked it up.

Mr Barker -

Be sure you have selected the correct HDMI channel on your TV. That's probably where your difficulty lies. You may have to go up and down all the options, maybe moreo than once, and test them all to see which will play your video.

I've just been through this, as a very new Kindle Fire user, and it was surprisingly easy. You probably know all this, but just in case - you need to have a TV which has at least one HDMI input. That's essential. Then you need a cable which is "micro HDMI" to "HDMI". The micro end, of course, goes into the micro HDMI output socket of your Fire HD. The larger HDMI end of the cable goes into the HDMI input socket of your TV. I've read that it's best to use the "HDMI_2" input of the TV, and that's what I used since the other input of my TV was already occupied. But I think any HDMI input should do.

Having connected things up, you need to Select the HDMI channel to which you connected. Usually this is done with a remote control. In my case, it took several seconds for the new connection to be recognized, but I think that's unusual. Once the connection is recognized, the video on your Fire HD should play normally. I found that for best color, I had to back off the saturation on my TV quite a bit - but that's an individual preference.

Denise, no. The non-HD Fire has no video output of any kind.

Josh if your TV Does not have an HDMI port, you can purchase an adapter like this one:

http://www.amazon.com/ViewHD-Universal-Composite-Converter-Standard/dp/B0080KN18K/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1357343422&sr=8-3&keywords=hdmi+to+rca+adapter

You would have to find out what type of available connections your TV does have... Also, it might be easier just to get a Roku device for your TV.

Play your video in your computer, but view and control it over the internet from your Kindle with a program such as TeamViewer for Android available free from Amazon Apps Store and for PC from the app's mother site, also for free. If you want more quality you have to pay a little more for a pricier program, though.
