Jan Smith says:
I am going to Russia next month and want to purchase a Kindle Fire HD to take with me. What will I need to re-charge the battery while I am there for two weeks?

You should buy the fast start charger (which you should have anyway) and a plug adapter that works in Russia.

by any chance were you traveling with Scenic Tours,
and did you use/have problems with the wifi service?

CBRetriever says:
no, it was a French based company (everything was in French) and the wifi on the hotels worked perfectly but they were all 4-5 star hotels

the only complaint I had was with the hotel in Moscow as they charged for wifi in the room but it was free in the lobby

Whatever power plug you get for the Kindle, also spend a few dollars getting a universal plug adaptor...which will be available in airport gift shops / book stores. It will let you plug things into any wall socket the world over. The last time I bought a universal adaptor was years ago, and it cost me $10.99. Now days, it may cost more like $20.00, but will be worth it even so.

we are guests on the Scenic Tsar, so no hotels

I bought 2 x power gender benders on ebay for Au$6, these accommodate the 4 different input and output orientations so very universal

Jackie says:
yes it is, apparently owned by the Scenic Group and registered in Russia, it accommodates 112 guests
We have several days in Moscow, then travel the Volga-Baltic Canal to St Petersburg where again have a stay there.

You probably traveled on their high speed train, where we go at a more leisurely pace.
We enjoyed the experience of the Maglev in Shanghai last September at 304kph.

don't know if it was high speed, but it was an overnight train

I had an idea that the Sapsan went between Moscow to St Petersburg in ~4 1/2 hours, so you were not on that one
